With over 30 years of experience, he has excelled in financial management. He has excelled as the chief executive officer at TreasuryPros since 2007. The non-profit specializes in treasury management consulting for highly leveraged operations, personalized certified treasury professional and certified public accountant exam preparation, and financial literacy education for adults and children. In this position, he oversees the strategic direction and operations of the company, ensuring top-tier financial services for clients. Prior to this position, he was the creator and director of the Treasury Management Mentoring Program at DePaul University from 2007 to 2016, where he mentored aspiring treasury professionals and provided invaluable industry insights. 

Previously, Mr. Lenihan served as a wealth management advisor at Total Clarity Wealth Management Inc. from 2007 to 2012, offering comprehensive wealth management services to clients. His extensive career includes his role as corporate assistant treasurer at Zurich Financial Services from 2005 to 2007 and as assistant treasurer at Prime Group Realty Trust from 2002 to 2005. He also led the Treasury Management Program for CTP Certification at Northwestern University from 2000 to 2002 and served as director of global treasury at Whittman-Hart Inc. and marchFIRST Inc. from 2000 to 2001. In his earlier career, he was the director of financial planning and analysis at Nalco from 1989 to 2000 and began his career as assistant treasurer at Microdot Inc. from 1986 to 1989.  He has also contributed to academia as an adjunct professor, teaching at Concordia University from 2021 to 2022, Benedictine University from 2009 to 2010, and Roosevelt University from 2005 to 2007. 

Before embarking on his career path, Mr. Lenihan set a solid educational foundation by earning a Bachelor of Science in finance from the University of Illinois Chicago in 1977. He continued his academic efforts, achieving a Master of Business Administration in finance with distinction from DePaul Driehaus College of Business in 1981. He has also earned several professional certifications. He holds Series 7 and Series 66 licenses from the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, obtained in 2007, a certificate in the Nalco and IIT Professional Selling Program from the Illinois Institute of Technology, obtained in 1996, and is a certified treasury professional.

Beyond his responsibilities within the field, Mr. Lenihan has actively participated in civic engagement and community service. He has served as treasurer on the board of directors for SAVE THE FROGS! since 2021, board treasurer for Acts of Kindness Cabaret since 2021, and finance advisor for the Money Management Program since 2021. Additionally, he has volunteered with the Alzheimer’s Association® since 2011 and has contributed as an educator and mentor for Junior Achievement of Chicago, The TreasuryPros Educational Foundation, and Lions Clubs. He has also been a member of Financial Executives International since 2000, the Corporate International Finance Association of Chicago from 2000 to 2004, and the Association For Financial Professionals Inc. He is a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma honor society.

Mr. Lenihan attributes his success to his unwavering commitment to ethics and integrity, believing firmly that leaders are readers. His involvement in the finance and treasury management profession stems from a passion for helping others achieve financial stability and success. Throughout his career, the highlight that stands out the most is the profound impact he has had on his students, many of whom have gone on to become successful certified public accountants, chief financial officers, and certified treasury professionals. Looking ahead, he aims to publish a book and use the proceeds to fund the TreasuryPros Educational Foundation.
