John H. Riddle, Chief Executive Officer of the National Alliance of Trade Merchants (NATM) Group, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in trade management.
Mr. Riddle has carved out a distinguished career in the field of executive leadership and trade management. Currently, he is excelling as the executive director of NATM Group since 2023. In this role, he collaborates with major original equipment manufacturers, both international and US-based, to manage relationships, oversees data information systems to keep members informed about marketplace developments, and manages a large annual trade conference, ensuring chief executive officers and their teams are well taken care of during the event.
Mr. Riddle also serves as the president and chief executive officer of John Riddle Consulting Group since 2018. His previous roles include chairman of the board and board member at Howard’s from 2018 to 2023, and president and chief executive officer at Howard’s from 2019 to 2022. He was a founding board member at Appliance Factory & Mattress Kingdom from 2020 to 2023 and a board member at Unity from 2018 to 2023.
Additionally, Mr. Riddle served on the board of directors for the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers from 2016 to 2018. His career also includes significant roles at LG Electronics, where he was senior vice president of home appliances from 2017 to 2018, senior vice president of sales from 2015 to 2017, and vice president of regional and B2B Sales, USA from 2011 to 2015. He held the position of vice president at Hisense USA in 2010-2011, chairman of the board at ownerIQ in 2009-2010, and product general manager for built-in and professional cooking products at Electrolux Home Products from 2007 to 2009.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Riddle was vice president of sales and marketing at Fleetwood Homes Inc. from 2004 to 2007, vice president of Sales at Philips Electronics from 2001 to 2004, and vice president and general manager at Maytag from 1979 to 2001.
Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Riddle pursued an education at York College of Pennsylvania, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics in 1978. He continued his academic efforts by obtaining various certifications to enhance his leadership and management skills. In 1997, he earned a certification in marketing studies from the University of Pittsburgh, followed by a certification in the Finance Executive Education Program from The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business in 1998. He furthered his leadership training with a certification in leadership training and development from the Center for Leadership in 2000. In 2008, he completed a certification in Electrolux leadership development at Hult Ashridge. Most recently, in 2017, he earned a certification in Subsidiary CEO Development through the LG Executive Leadership Program.
In light of his impressive undertakings, Mr. Riddle has accrued several accolades throughout his career. He was recognized as a member of the Hall of Fame by Dealerscope in 2022, listed among the Top 100 Retailers by Dealerscope in 2021, included in the OC 500 List by the Orange County Business Journal in 2020, and presented with the Retail Excellence Award by Dealerscope in 2020.
Throughout the duration of his career, one highlight that stands out the most for Mr. Riddle is his upbringing within the family business. He sees it as a chance to contribute to an industry that enabled his parents to support their large family and send all seven children to school. While he did not pursue a career directly within the family business, he values the lessons learned during his upbringing and college years, which have informed his successful career trajectory.
Mr. Riddle credits his parents for his success, as they inspired and motivated him while growing up, particularly through their family-owned business. He learned valuable lessons from them while working in the family store, gaining insights into the importance of customer care and industry dynamics.
Looking ahead, Mr. Riddle aims to support the independent appliance-TV-furniture dealers, recognizing their significance in serving consumers and vendors and providing employment opportunities. According to him, “leadership is the key within the work life, and it is also something that transcends over into personal life.” His advice to fellow members or others aspiring to work in his industry is to “always go the extra mile to take care of customers.”
