Dr. Anupma Sethi, founder and director at EmpowerKidz, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in special education.

With nearly three and a half decades of experience in mental health, Dr. Sethi has built a successful career specializing in cognitive skill assessment and intervention, literacy intervention, and perceptual-motor training. Since 2008, she has served as the founder and director of EmpowerKidz, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering children with various challenges by providing therapeutic services, educational support, social skills development, and resources. Her responsibilities include providing educational therapy services, performing comprehensive holistic evaluations, and creating measurable objectives and goals that are shared with parents. In addition, she worked part-time as an educational therapist at Strategies for Learning Inc. from 2022 to 2023 and held several roles as a substitute teacher, including the Boulder Valley School District from 2006 to 2008, Mt. Lebanon Montessori School from 2006 to 2008, and BVSD from 2008 to 2010. During the same period, she served as a remedial tutor at 32 Degree Masonic Learning Center from 2006 to 2008. 

Earlier in her career, Dr. Sethi was the academic head at Vidyashree from 2001 to 2003 and worked as a special educator at Vidyasagar Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences from 2001 to 2002. She served as a freelance consultant at Laxman Public School from 1998 to 2000, an educational diagnostician and Remedial Educator at EduCare from 1996 to 1999, headmistress at Air Force Golden Jubilee Institute from 1995 to 1996, and began his career as a research fellow at the National Council for Educational Research & Training from 1991 to 1993. In addition, she volunteered with the Learning Disabilities Association of America from 2003 to 2005, served as a board member and director for the Training Program for Parents and Teachers at the Africa Dyslexia Organization in Ghana, and is a member of the International Dyslexia Association and the Association of Educational Therapists. 

Dr. Sethi has a solid educational foundation, beginning with a Bachelor of Science in home science, science, special education teaching, and language arts teaching from the University of Jammu in 1988. She went on to earn her Master of Science in human development from the University of Jammu in 1990, followed by a bachelor’s degree in education from Annamalai University in 1993, a diploma in mental retardation from the National Institute for the Mentally Handicapped in 1996 and completed her Ph.D. in specific learning disabilities in arithmetic at Delhi University in 2000. She later obtained an educational therapy certification from UCSC Silicon Valley Extension in 2023 and holds a certification as a reading specialist with the United Latino Students Association. She attributes her success to her perseverance and determination to pursue her passions. In the coming years, she is dedicated to the growth of EmpowerKidz, aiming to create a sustainable system that ensures longevity, as well as build a dedicated team, and develop tailored service plans for each child’s unique needs. She also intends to train passionate individuals who can carry on the mission, establishing a training system for professionals to adopt the EmpowerKidz approach and providing consistent, high-quality support for children well into the future.
