Title: Owner and Chief Executive Officer
Company: 1) Murray LLC; 2) Village Holdings LLC
Location: Birmingham, Alabama, United States

Edward Gray Murray, owner and chief executive officer at Murray LLC and Village Holdings LLC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in real estate.

With over three decades of experience to his credit, Mr. Murray has established a successful career in real estate and development. He currently excels as the manager of Village Holdings LLC and the chief executive officer and manager of Murray LLC, roles he has held since 2008. Additionally, he has been the manager and general partner at Murray Staten Farms LLLP and Staten Plantation LLP since 1994. His responsibilities include high-level management, development analysis, and property acquisition or development decisions. His experience also includes owner and board member at Rustic River Park Homes from 2014 to 2019 and senior engineer and manager at Southern Company, a leading energy company that provides electric power and natural gas to customers across the United States, from 1973 to 2006. He is a member of Alpha Tau Omega Social Fraternity, Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honorary Society, and Pi Tau Sigma Mechanical Engineering Honorary Society. Additionally, he has dedicated his time as a board member for AMBUCS since 2006, president of the board for SCS Retirees Inc. since 2006, and coordinator for Community Bible Study since 1995.

Laying a solid educational foundation, Mr. Murray earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Auburn University, graduating cum laude in 1973, and holds certifications as a registered professional engineer in Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida. After finding limited prospects in the construction industry, he joined Southern Company, where he dedicated five decades to the company. He later transitioned to the family business and founded Murray LLC, a successful enterprise specializing in the development and management of commercial real estate in Georgia and Alabama. The company also manages a centennial family farm in Valdosta, Georgia. Over the past 25 years, they have developed around 30 properties, including Walmart, Publix, Aldi, the FBI building, filling stations, and outlets. Village Holdings, a development on Lake Martin near Auburn, has developed about 200 acres and built around 75 houses in the Village at Lake Martin since 2006. His career with Southern Company began in 1973, when he rose to middle management, serving as manager of power engineering and manager of power plant performance.

Mr. Murray attributes his success to the advantage of having a family-owned farm, which allowed them to develop properties without the need for additional land purchases. Growing up, he gained valuable experience working with his father in the water and sewer construction business, learning the intricacies of development through hands-on work with installing and analyzing water and sewer lines. In the coming years, he aims to transition his businesses and responsibilities to his family members. With only a few years left in his career, he plans to gradually reduce his involvement, delegating day-to-day tasks to his sons and implementing systems to streamline operations. His sisters play a crucial role in managing the farm in Valdosta, including handling payroll, which allows him to concentrate on higher-level tasks and long-term planning.
