Jackie Senkandwa, co-founder at Minority Wealth Gap, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in finance.
With nearly a decade and a half of experience to her credit, Ms. Senkandwa has built a successful career in finance, specializing in public charity. She currently excels as the senior financial institutions examiner with the California Residential Mortgage Lending Act, a role she has held since 2022. In this capacity, she collaborates closely with community leaders to enhance awareness of government initiatives and address future labor needs. Her focus is on supporting businesses by helping them access the capital and technical assistance essential for their growth and success. Additionally, she and her husband co-founded Minority Wealth Gap in 2022. Minority Wealth Gap is a nonprofit organization focused on bridging financial disparities for underserved communities, particularly minorities, by providing support in areas such as housing, mental health, and access to funding. Founded in response to financial struggles exacerbated by COVID-19, it aims to offer timely and accessible assistance through community-based initiatives. Their research revealed a need for a community-based organization dedicated to bridging the wealth gap for minority populations. Their focus includes critical areas such as housing, mental health, nutrition, networking opportunities, and access to funding.
Ms. Senkandwa’s experience also includes serving as financial institutions manager at MLO in 2021, senior financial institutions examiner at MLO from 2020 to 2021, corporation examiner in CFL licensing specialist from 2016 to 2020, corporation examiner in the complaint unit from 2013 to 2016, corporate auditor with the Department of Financial Protection and Innovation from 2011 to 2013, and an auditor for the State of California. Additionally, she is an active member of the Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion Council and dedicates her time as a co-founder of Minority Wealth Gap, a role she has held since 2022. She is also the founder of the National Initiative, California Forward, a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing public policy reforms and fostering innovative solutions to address California’s critical issues. It focuses on creating a more effective and equitable government by engaging with community leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders to drive systemic change and improve the quality of life for residents across the state. Laying a solid educational foundation, she earned a bachelor’s degree in commerce from Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda, graduating magna cum laude in 2007, and is a certified school business specialist and a certified public accountant.
Reflecting on her path, Ms. Senkandwa also takes pride in her role as co-chair of the DEI department. She attributes her success to her exposure to the system, education, and experiences, remaining resilient despite challenges. In the coming years, one of her goals concerning Minority Wealth Gap is establishing a central domestic hub. She envisions herself continuing to advocate for minorities and making a significant impact through her NGO work. Additionally, she feels her true calling lies in dedicating herself full-time to championing minority causes. She plans to take community leaders to California for a meeting organized by California Forward, an NGO that connects community-based organizations with the state government. She believes that experiencing progress firsthand is more impactful than relying solely on media.
