Morris A. Miller, president and founder of Miller Energy Consulting LLC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in consultancy.
With nearly three decades of experience, Mr. Miller has built a successful career in consultancy, specializing as a federal royalty consultant. He currently excels as the president, founder, and Office of Natural Resources Revenue (ONRR) consultant at Miller Energy Consulting LLC, a role he has held since 2014. In this position, he assists clients with audit issues related to the federal government, resolves audit problems, and ensures accurate reporting. He also identifies potential deductions from federal royalties and evaluates the costs of transporting and processing gas to ensure that only allowable costs are considered. His previous roles include serving as an ONRR Royalty Reporter at WPX Energy from 2005 to 2014, and federal regulatory supervisor at Williams Companies and Amoco Research.
Mr. Miller holds memberships with the Council of Petroleum Accountants Societies, serves on the Education Committee of the Oklahoma Society of CPAs, and is a former member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He also sponsors oil and gas courses for certified public accountants and serves as treasurer for the Daylight Center and School in Kenya. Additionally, he volunteers with Tulsa Public Schools and Penn Elementary School and is a member of the Advisory Committee for the Indian Oil Valuation Negotiated Rulemaking Committee. Laying a solid educational foundation, he earned a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Accounting from Northeastern State University in 1987. His certifications include certified public accountant, licensed commercial pilot, and certified flight instructor. In light of his impressive undertakings, he has been recognized with several awards, including the Quality Leadership Award from the Minerals Management Service.
Mr. Miller takes great pride in spearheading the creation of a federal oil and gas workshop in Tulsa, which has been well-received by industry professionals. This initiative has garnered significant traction, attracting around 400 attendees from across the United States. After a decade of successful business operations, he is also proud to pass the reins to the next generation and witness its continued success. He attributes his success to his continuous pursuit of knowledge and strong work ethic. In the coming years, he is excited to continue pursuing his work with the same passion and dedication. He aims to further expand and grow his business and is considering bringing someone in to support the workload and eventually take over his responsibilities. In advising aspiring professionals, he emphasizes that if they have a passion for something, they should pursue it. Reflecting on his own journey, he notes that leaving a secure job to work for himself was a significant leap, but one that was ultimately worth the risk.
