Mr. Ahmad’s career is marked by hard work and dedication, backed by a series of significant roles across the energy sector. Since 2025, he has led the energy and infrastructure initiatives at Thor Equities Group in Houston, Texas. Operating in major cities throughout the world, the company serves as a leader in the development, leasing and management of office, industrial, laboratory, residential, hotel and mixed-use assets in premier urban locations.

As a leader in his field, Mr. Ahmad has also served as an investor for several companies. Among them is Recycling Technologies Ltd. in the U.K. since 2016. Notably, the company converts residual plastic waste being disposed of in landfills or incinerators into a valuable low-sulfur hydrocarbon called Plaxx. Mr. Ahmad has also been an investor for WheelTug plc, an industry leader in the emerging E-taxi market in Baltimore, Maryland, since 2018.

Before his contributions at Thor Equities Group, Mr. Ahmad was instrumental at Amazon Inc. from 2022 to 2025 as the head of net-zero grid. Here, he spearheaded the organization’s nuclear strategy, collaborating with the U.S. Department of Energy to advance the nuclear fleet and investing $500 million in X Energy through the Climate Pledge Fund. Notably, this groundbreaking investment catalyzed a new wave of activity in the U.S. power industry and set a precedent for other tech giants like Google and Microsoft.

Before joining Amazon Inc., Mr. Ahmad served as the director of strategy, mergers and acquisitions, and business development at NextEra Energy Resources between 2018 and 2022. His tenure there was preceded by his role as a product management lead at Baker Hughes Company under General Electric Company from 2017 to 2018. Mr. Ahmad’s earlier positions included contractual services leader for subsea systems and drilling at GE Oil & Gas between 2016 and 2017, following his role as the strategy director for subsea drilling and production systems from 2015 to 2016 and strategy director for subsea systems and drilling between 2012 and 2014. Additionally, he held the title of strategy manager for the experienced commercial leadership program at GE Energy, GE Company, from 2011 to 2013. Mr. Ahmad began his career as an associate at Boston Consulting Group in 2008.

Mr. Ahmad’s academic foundation is robust. He earned a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Engineering in electrical and information engineering, with honors, from the University of Cambridge. He also completed coursework in management and economics at MIT Sloan School of Management. While pursuing his degrees, he completed internships with British Nuclear Fuels Ltd., BP p.l.c. and Roland Berger. Mr. Ahmad’s education has been pivotal in his ability to navigate complex engineering principles with a systems-thinking approach.

Throughout his career, Mr. Ahmad has been an active member of several professional organizations, including the Energy Institute as an accredited fellow since 2013 and the Institution of Engineering and Technology. His contributions to the field are further evidenced by his involvement in various publications related to carbon capture and offshore wind. In addition to his professional endeavors, Mr. Ahmad is committed to civic engagement, volunteering for earthquake relief efforts with Impak and Indus Earth, and donating to various charities.

Mr. Ahmad’s accolades include being named among the Top 40 Under 40 Professionals by the World Energy Council’s Future Energy Leaders Program every year between 2017 and 2019. He attributes his success to a relentless focus on incremental improvement and adaptability amidst challenges.
