Mr. Vazquez began his career with ER Squibb & Sons LLC, working in their medical device department between 1985 and 2007. During this time, he was additionally active as the director of business and marketing expansion with ConvaTec, A Bristol-Myers-Squibb Company, between 2004 and 2008. He subsequently served as the director of marketing with Unified Wealth Strategies LLC dba BizRenu from 2008 to 2014. Soon thereafter, Mr. Vazquez accepted the position of a senior product marketing manager for the Advanced & Acute Wound Care division of Essity from 2014 to 2020.
Between 2020 and 2024, Mr. Vazquez found success as a medical device consultant with MDC. Over the course of this tenure, he was similarly recruited as a medical device marketer with MDC’s Specialist Marketing department from 2021 to 2024. He also briefly provided his wealth of expertise to the AudPractice Group LLC as a marketing director in 2021. Prior to his current post, Mr. Vazquez was involved with Komet USA LLC, helping to market instruments related to general dental procedures and endodontics with an emphasis on tooth preservation, though he eventually shifted his attention to community-based health care due to his desire to have a direct impact on patient quality of life.
To support his professional ambitions, Mr. Vazquez pursued an education at Universidad de Puerto Rico, from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in applied science. In addition to this accomplishment, he obtained a number of certifications to enhance his skill set throughout his career, including those from Bristol-Myers-Squibb, LinkedIn, the Pragmatic Institute, and ICAgile. Furthermore, Mr. Vazquez proudly completed the Executive Leadership Program at the Levinson Institute for Business Leaders and Executives at Harvard Business School between 2008 and 2009.
Beyond his primary responsibilities, Mr. Vazquez has participated in numerous endeavors outside of his immediate circles. Exhibiting his commitment to those in need, he has contributed to cleanup and relief efforts at the New Jersey Shore with the New Jersey Disaster Relief Service, children’s advocacy through Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), and rebuilding old buildings as shelters for abused children through slavery or domestic abuse in a volunteer capacity. Moreover, Mr. Vazquez has been affiliated with the Medical Device Innovation Center, Medical Device Professional Networks, and the Marketing Communications Network.
In light of his impressive undertakings, Mr. Vazquez has accrued several accolades throughout his career, including Go-getter Awards for Top Sales, Marketing Awards, a Top Performer Award, and a Top Rated Employee Award. In addition to these honors, he is incredibly proud to have developed education programs and trained 20,000 nurses on modern wound management and patient care throughout the Caribbean and Latin America. Mr. Vazquez is likewise grateful for the opportunities to educate and work with international governments and religious entities for the inclusion of patients with conditions considered to be unclean, and create necessary nutritional materials for the care of patients with specific surgical procedures.
A native of Puerto Rico, Mr. Vazquez has attributed his success to the influence of his parents, who moved from Puerto Rico to the United States in the 1940s and worked tirelessly to ensure a better future for their children, as well as his uncle, Dr. Joseph Fernandez, a lifelong entrepreneur who became the first Puerto Rican to be appointed as the executive director at Greenpoint Hospital in Brooklyn. He fondly recalls his time working in Latin America, South Africa, and Asia, as he was able to establish a comprehensive wound care clinic in Costa Rica that would aid nurses and doctors in areas lacking in medical device technology and healthcare education. In addition to fulfilling this goal, Mr. Vazquez was able to cement the clinic as a state-of-the-art facility that drew the attention and widespread support of medical professionals, governments, and private entities around the globe.
Looking toward the future, Mr. Vazquez hopes to continue learning while leading organizations that will enable him to utilize his versatile skill set. He also plans to write a book that can offer insight, guidance, and perspective to the next generation of professionals within his field. Likewise, Mr. Vazquez aims to conduct avocational research and garner more certifications in the coming years.
