Steven E. Loyd, JD, MBA, BS, BA, chief executive officer at Galahad Life Sciences Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in pharmaceuticals.
With over two decades of experience to his credit, Mr. Loyd has established a successful career in pharmaceuticals, specializing in biotechnology with a focus on mitochondrial biotechnology. He currently excels as the chief executive officer of Galahad Life Sciences, a position he has held since 2022. Galahad Life Sciences specializes in the development and commercialization of advanced therapeutic and diagnostic solutions for various medical conditions. They focus on leveraging cutting-edge technology and research to create innovative healthcare products. His experience also includes serving as president and interim chief executive officer at Galahad Life Sciences in 2023, president and chief executive officer of pH Science Holdings from 2003 to 2023, founder and chief executive officer of Loyd & Company Inc. from 1989 to 2004, and affiliate professor of finance at the University of Washington’s Michael G. Foster School of Business from 1993 to 2003. Additionally, he serves on the board of directors for Alpha Delta Phi, Ubiquity University, the University of Washington, and Habitat for Humanity. Laying a solid educational foundation, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in history and a Bachelor of Science in psychology from the University of Washington in 1970, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Washington in 1976, and a Juris Doctor from Willamette University School of Law in 1976.
Reflecting on his path, Mr. Loyd initially pursued a career in law after originally intending to become a medical doctor. Despite this change in direction, he achieved success in the legal field. However, in 2003, while teaching at the University of Washington, he encountered an innovative individual focused on improving human health by reducing acidity in foods and beverages. This encounter sparked his interest, prompting his transition from business and finance to the health and wellness sector. He takes great pride in his noteworthy accomplishments. In the 1970s, he successfully rezoned downtown Seattle and acquired eleven city blocks for a significant renovation and rehabilitation project. Additionally, he drafted legislation to regulate police surveillance on individuals who had not committed a crime, demonstrating his commitment to safeguarding civil liberties, and played a crucial role in securing patents for products that enhance human longevity by stimulating mitochondrial function.
Mr. Loyd attributes his success to his mother, who supported him through many challenges. Her unwavering love and encouragement helped him become the first person in their family to graduate from college. He draws on these values to empathize with people’s needs. For example, recognizing that coffee can be harsh on some people’s stomachs, he has developed a product that improves health benefits and contributes to a longer, healthier life. He aims to make these products both accessible and affordable for everyone. In the coming years, he aspires to co-lead Galahad Life Sciences with his daughter Ashley, aiming to transform the company into a leading provider of accessible life-extending products for the U.S. and beyond. He advises aspiring professionals to be curious and view setbacks not as failures but as learning experiences.
