Guy L. Sands-Pingot, senior executive, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in executive leadership and military service.

With over four and a half decades of experience to his credit, Dr. Sands-Pingot has established a successful professional career, specializing in executive management, education, military defense, and armed services. He currently excels as a professor of program management at the Defense Acquisition University since 2019 and as a senior executive in private practice since 2018. Throughout his tenure, he has served as director of human capital with the U.S. Army, Office of the Chief, Army Reserve from 2014 to 2018, assistant deputy chief of staff G-3/4 for integration and synchronization at U.S. Army Material Command from 2011 to 2014, assistant inspector general for inspections at the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction from 2009 to 2010, brigadier general and commander of the 353rd Civil Affairs Command at the U.S. Army from 2005 to 2008, and as company executive officer – exchange officer with the British Territorial Army – A Coy, The Black Watch in Dundee, Scotland from 1988 to 1989.

Notably, Dr. Sands-Pingot’s accomplishments include being named Knight Commander of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre, being appointed to the Venerable Order of St. John of Jerusalem, and being a Knight of the Jury of the Constantinian Order of St. George. In light of his impressive undertakings, he was honored with the Distinguished Service Medal from the U.S. Army in 2016, named Knight Commander of The Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, a Vatican Order of Chivalry awarded by the Holy See in 2006, and recognized as a Knight of Justice of The Venerable Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, a British Order of Chivalry awarded by HM Queen Elizabeth II as Sovereign of the Order in 1990. Laying a solid educational foundation for his successes, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Russian Area Studies from The City College of New York in 1978, a Master of Science in international relations from Troy University in 1987, a postgraduate fellowship in political economics from the University of St. Andrews in 1990, a Master of Arts in political economy from Fordham University in 1995, a master’s degree in strategic studies from the United States Army War College in 2003, and a Doctorate in leadership studies from Creighton University in 2015.

Reflecting on his path, in 1978, Dr. Sands-Pingot received his commission from the Army in New York City through Fordham University’s ROTC program. He entered active duty after completing his bachelor’s degree and dedicated nearly a decade to military service until the end of 1987. He continued his service in his home state of New York, ultimately joining the New York National Guard and the Army Reserves. Simultaneously, he was accepted as a consultant at Arthur Andersen, where he spent three years before returning to active duty following his service in the Middle East during Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He underwent special forces training as an Army captain and eventually became a Green Beret. In 1994, while pursuing his doctorate at Fordham University, the Army called upon him to serve as a major in Bosnia with the United Nations Protection Force in Tuzla.

Dr. Sands-Pingot takes great pride in being an attentive father and a loving husband, which he considers his most meaningful accomplishment. On a professional level, as a member of the senior executive service and a surgeon in Afghanistan, he worked diligently to make a positive impact in a challenging, politically charged environment. He views his appointment to the ambassadorial rank as the high point of his career, serving as the number two ambassador to Afghanistan from January to late summer of 2017. Additionally, he runs a small business alongside his primary occupation, seeking to build financial stability and engage in activities related to antiques. Moreover, he is eager to broaden his travel experiences in the coming years.
