Her career began in 2010 as a finance analyst for Triage Custom Inc. In 2011, Ms. Flaherty started a lengthy tenure with Charles Schwab, joining the company as an active trader and high net worth specialist. Across 10 years with the company, she was promoted to associate financial consultant and then vice president of financial consultants. Ms. Flaherty was the youngest vice president in the history of Charles Schwab, demonstrating her skill and ambition.
In 2021, Ms. Flaherty took a sabbatical from Charles Schwab to care for her parents amid the COVID-19 pandemic. During this time, she elicited interest from numerous potential future employers, including Morgan Stanley, UBS Group AG and Alliance Brinson. By the time Ms. Flaherty was ready to return to full-time work in 2022, she recognized how high the demand for her expertise was and chose to found her own business. Through MKF Private Wealth Management, she assists multiple clients, tailoring her services to their distinct needs. Ms. Flaherty primarily aids wealth management for her 45 clients by trading stocks and bonds, as well as setting up alternative investments, retirement and tax planning, Social Security strategies, and more. She has set herself apart from others in the industry with her holistic approach, encompassing a mastery of hedge funds, trading options, stocks and more.
Prior to embarking upon her professional journey, Ms. Flaherty set a strong academic foundation for herself. After graduating from high school in 2007, she completed coursework at various institutions, including the London School of Economics, the University of Minnesota and the Universidad de Granada. Ms. Flaherty earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a focus on finance and biological sciences and a minor in Spanish from the Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver in 2011. Committed to lifelong learning, she has bolstered her credentials with certification as a financial planner, investment adviser, securities agent and general securities representative from the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority.
Ms. Flaherty’s accomplishments have been honored with numerous accolades. She is the recipient of the Client Champion Award and was granted entry into the Platinum Chairman’s Club at Charles Schwab. Ms. Flaherty considers success to be treating others how she wants to be treated and helping people however she can, which has been her goal in the financial field. She credits her achievements to humility, hard work and strong communication skills.
A volunteer within her local community, Ms. Flaherty freely gives her time and energy to causes she believes in. She has offered her services as an adviser for the Denver Zoo and the Rocky Mountain Society. Additionally, Ms. Flaherty supports such organizations as Girls Inc., Service for Sight and Denver Health.
Beyond her career, Ms. Flaherty stays active by sailing, golfing, skiing, playing board games and fishing. In planning for the future, she hopes to sustain the current level of growth for MKF Private Wealth Management. Ms. Flaherty intends to hire more staff members as the business expands but hopes to keep her client base small to maintain personal connections. She aims to improve the financial outlook for her clients across multiple generations.
