Reflecting on his path, Mr. Khan attributes his success to the mentorship he received throughout his career. His passion for web development began during his studies at Oakland University, where a web design class with Australian professor Tyron Matheson sparked his interest in creating and developing websites. His first job in 1999 as a help desk employee at Ford World Headquarters provided him with valuable experience, working on projects with both Ford Motor Company and Visteon Corporation. In 2004, he transitioned into a role as a web specialist and technical writer, marking the beginning of his career in frontend user interface development. After moving to Maryland in 2005, he became a government contractor for the Department of Homeland Security, further honing his skills in web development.
Mr. Khan faced a challenging personal situation in 2017 and sought new learning opportunities. He explored coding camps like Grand Circus in Detroit and discovered Udemy, an online platform offering affordable courses. He credits Udemy with helping him reshape his career, as he studied angular and React, two critical JavaScript frameworks that became the foundation of his professional work. In the coming years, he aims to grow his company, Lion Cub LLC, which he purchased in 2024. He anticipates a steep learning curve as he transitions into entrepreneurship, but he is excited to market his web development services and continue mentoring students and newcomers in the field. He looks forward to building his business and sharing his passion for web development with others, particularly those interested in becoming instructors, mentors, or coaches in frontend development.
