With decades of experience to his credit, Dr. Pierce has excelled as the president of Crowpierce Technologies LLC, a biotechnology company developing innovative solutions in the agricultural and biomedical sectors such as FarmRipe™ and Rhodase™, since 2018. Prior to this position, he found success at Georgia State University as a manager of technology development and engineering from 1991 to 2000 and a professor of microbiology from 2000 to 2020. Additionally active as a manager of technology development and engineering for Cytec Industries between 1999 and 2000, he previously worked as an associate section manager for Battelle Memorial Institute from 1978 to 1990 and the director of Celgene Corporation from 1988 to 1990. Dr. Pierce began his career as a postdoctoral fellow in microbiology at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York between 1976 and 1977.
To support his professional ambitions, Dr. Pierce pursued an education at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, from which he earned a Bachelor of Science in biology in 1969 and a Doctor of Philosophy in microbiology in 1976. Notably, he served his country through his enlistment in the U.S. Army before embarking upon his civilian career. Attributing his success to his excellent collaborators and mentors, he has accrued several accolades over the years, including the National Award from the U.S. Football Foundation, the Outstanding Teaching Award from the Society for Industrial Microbiology and Biotechnology, and the Quarter Award for Outstanding Achievement in Supporting Industrial Environmental Microbiology. He is incredibly proud of the pioneering innovations in his field that have the potential for transformative impact, as his contributions are currently being actualized into practical applications. In the coming years, Dr. Pierce hopes to conduct several trials on acute lymphoblastic leukemia in Europe, which he aims to see utilized by a major pharmaceutical company while likewise advancing his research on the grading of fruits and vegetables.
