Susan Zimmerman, chief executive officer, founder, publicist, and consultant at Magnum PR Corp., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in public relations.
With nearly four decades of experience, Ms. Zimmerman has built a successful career in marketing and public relations, specializing in music, lifestyle, event branding, and public relations (PR). She excels as the founder and chief executive officer of Magnum PR Artist Development & PR, a role she has held since 1994. Magnum PR, a leading public relations firm, initially focused on electronic music and has since expanded to represent rock and roll groups, launch emerging artists across genres, and collaborate with international brands and festivals. Her experience also includes her previous role as founder and chief executive officer of Formula PR from 1990 to 1994, as well as early positions at TVT Records and the “Night Flight” television show. She also serves on the NYC Advisory Board for the David Lynch Foundation’s Transcendental Meditation chapter.
Ms. Zimmerman’s career began with a chance role as a receptionist at “Night Flight,” a popular alternative music TV show, where her initiative led to a promotion as a segment producer and writer. When “Night Flight” faced bankruptcy, she transitioned to TVT Records, an indie label renowned for signing Nine Inch Nails. There, she gained expertise in artist branding and video production, which paved the way for her to launch Formula PR, later rebranded as Magnum PR. Over the years, she has built a stellar reputation for creating viral campaigns, achieving multi-platinum sales, and supporting Grammy-winning artists. Her clients have been featured in top publications such as The New York Times and Rolling Stones and have appeared on major platforms, from Late Night TV to Saturday Night Live. Additionally, she music-supervised Darren Aronofsky’s debut film, “Pi,” which won Best Director at Sundance.
Ms. Zimmerman credits her success to her mother’s consistent support, which has been instrumental in her career. She finds purpose in empowering musicians to have their voices heard and is passionate about her clients’ success. In the coming years, she plans to achieve a better work-life balance while adapting to the changing media landscape. Inspired by friends and fellow writers, she aims to embark on a script project and deepen her involvement in volunteer work.
