Early in her career, she served as a non-commissioned officer, and with guidance from her uncle, a Vietnam veteran, she joined the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps at South Carolina State University, a historically Black university. Upon graduation, she was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Quartermaster Corps, specializing in logistics and supply chain management. Her role included overseeing critical military supplies like food, water, ammunition, and equipment, which helped her develop the skills that would later shape her consulting business. She takes great pride in having been inducted into the South Carolina State University ROTC Hall of Fame in 2023.
Ms. Govan attributes her success to a foundation of dedication and the strong guidance of her mother and grandmother, who instilled in her the values of focus, planning, and hard work. Looking ahead, she aims to transition The M.A.G. Firm into a premier consulting firm, broadening both its client base and range of services. Currently managing multiple roles independently, she plans to streamline operations by hiring key staff, including a vice president and operations manager, to oversee leadership and logistical tasks. This strategic expansion will allow her to enhance client service and improve overall company efficiency.
