Ms. Velez de Berlinger has been an instrumental figure at RTG-Red Team Group Inc. for over 15 years. She established her firm as a managing director in 2006 and transitioned into the role of chief strategy officer in 2014. As a subject-matter expert, she is entrusted with the best interests of the U.S., the government and the private sector. Her specialization in analyzing risks and threats to ensure safety has been a key factor in her success. Ms. Velez de Berlinger has also excelled in protecting various parts of Latin America, including Brazil, Argentina, the Colombo-Venezuelan border and various other parts of the world. Notably, during her tenure at RTG, she had the opportunity to consult with and train members of the U.S. Department of Defense and the U.S. Air Force
Before joining RTG, Ms. Velez de Berlinger was the president of the Latin Intelligence Corporation from 2001 to 2014. She also excelled as the Latin American manager at Industrial Scientific Corporation between 1999 and 2001, as the new ventures manager at the World Trade Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, from 1995 to 1999, and as the lead researcher at the University of Pittsburgh’s Matthew Ridgeway Center for Security Studies, between 1993 and 1995. In addition to her full-time
commitments in the field, Ms. Velez de Berlinger has been teaching online as an adjunct professor in the College of Professional Studies at George Washington University since 2012. She has also remained active on the board of advisors for the Center for Latin American Studies at the University of Pittsburgh since 2003 and as a curriculum committee member of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of South Carolina since 2014.
Highly educated, Ms. Velez de Berlinger received a Bachelor of Science in international relations, summa cum laude, from Lake Forest College in 1989 and a master’s degree in intelligence, security and international relations from the University of Pittsburgh in 1995. She was also recognized by her alma mater, Lake Forest College, in 2008 with an Honorary Doctorate and received several additional accolades highlighting her success in the classroom and the industry. Having written extensively for the Latin American Advisor since 2004, Ms. Velez de Berlinger is now engrossed in penning her biography for family members.
