Company: SEMAFOR
Location: Washington, D.C., United States

Alexandra J. Herrera, CMP, senior director of live journalism at SEMAFOR, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in event management.

For nearly 20 years, Ms. Herrera has built her stellar reputation in the events industry, beginning with her role as a general manager and production assistant at Buffa’s Dance Studio Ltd. from 2005 to 2015. Concurrent with that role, she also gained experience as an event assistant with EVOKE Design & Creative from 2011 to 2015. From 2016 to 2017, Ms. Herrera joined Linder Global Events as an event coordinator. Her contributions led to promotions to event manager in 2017, event director in 2020, and senior event director in 2024. During this tenure, she planned and produced a variety of live events for a wide range of clients year-round, with budgets ranging from $250,000 to $20 million, while further ensuring operational goals were met by the aforementioned company. Ms. Herrera has served as the senior director of live journalism for SEMAFOR in October of 2024.

Ms. Herrera’s performance in the field was born of her academic journey. She obtained a Bachelor of Science in business management with a minor in Spanish from Sweet Briar College in 2011. Subsequently, Ms. Herrera earned a master’s degree in tourism administration in event and meeting management from The George Washington University in 2015. She has added to her credentials by completing her certification as a meeting professional through the Events Industry Council in 2018, which has been renewed until 2028. Ms. Herrera renewed that certification in 2023. She maintains membership in Meeting Professional International as part of her commitment to staying updated on the latest information in her industry.

Among her proudest professional achievements, Ms. Herrera fondly recalls supporting her clients at the Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans, Inc. by organizing their annual awards event with around 1,000 attendees. Her responsibilities for this notable event included managing logistics, event creative, and personnel, such as security teams, to name a few. She has been a member of Meeting Professionals International since 2014 and has been supporting the Networking Committee for the last year. Attributing her success to the unwavering support and encouragement of her parents, who instilled in her the importance of networking and supporting others in the best interest of her clients, Ms. Herrera hopes to expand her skills in ways that will allow her to continue making a significant impact in the events industry at SEMAFOR in the coming years.
