Jonathan F. Melegrito, chief financial officer at Purple Brand, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in finance and accounting.
Mr. Melegrito is recognized for his diverse career spanning over 25 years. Having begun his profession as an associate with KPMG, a leading accounting firm, from 1999 to 2002, he continually progressed with various other organizations. He is now the chief financial officer at Purple Brand in late 2022. The high-end, Canadian-based fashion apparel brand was founded in 2017 and has become recognized as a leading apparel brand in the men’s category at Saks in the U.S. and as the number one men’s denim brand at Neiman Marcus.
After consulting for the organization for nearly a year, Mr. Melegrito officially joined the company to continue significantly impacting its success. As such, he is responsible for establishing strategies, policies and procedures, and securing financing. Moreover, he is tasked with developing a team to help take Purple Brand to the next level. Among Mr. Melegrito’s most notable accomplishments at Purple Brand was his ability to facilitate the successful securing of its first retail space in New York, having negotiated with landlords and owners to acquire the right location.
Before joining Purple Brand, Mr. Melegrito had taken an 18-month hiatus to contribute to his personal and professional growth. He previously contributed his financial expertise to Hershel Supply Company, a global accessories brand based in Vancouver, Canada, between 2012 and 2021 as the organization’s senior vice president of finance. Mr. Melegrito also held leading roles with Sierra Systems, an NTT DATA Company and information technology management and consulting services firm, from 2004 to 2012 as a finance manager, Norsat International, a leading provider of broadband communication solutions, as a corporate accountant in 2004, and Vancouver Airport as a senior accountant between 2002 and 2003.
Following high school, Mr. Melegrito attended the University of Victoria in Canada in 1996, where he completed coursework in pre-commerce. Subsequently, he graduated from the University of British Columbia in Canada with a Bachelor of Commerce in accounting in 1999. Adding to his professional credentials, Mr. Melegrito became a chartered accountant through the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia in 1999, a designation he maintained until 2002.
Mr. Melegrito’s success earned him recognition among Vancouver’s Top 25 Chief Financial Officers in 2024. Victory Magazine featured him as the Most Impactful Chief Finance Officer that same year.
Mr. Melegrito credits his parents for his success in teaching him the importance of hard work. His parents were immigrants from the Philippines who settled in Canada. Ultimately, he became the head of the household when his father fell ill, caring for his mother and supporting the family. This tenacity grew over the years, and Mr. Melegrito maintains a solid work ethic backed by a passion for his work.
Emphasizing the importance of embracing non-traditional career paths, Mr. Melegrito plans to continue supporting Purple Brand as it becomes more widely recognized. He also intends to maintain a consistent work-life balance, dedicating time to family and travel. Moreover, Mr. Melegrito aspires to teach or serve on professional boards where he can provide his insight and expertise to others.
