Anna Blue, president of the AHLA Foundation, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in social impact.
With over two decades of experience, Ms. Blue has built a successful career focused on social impact and creating movements for change. Since 2023, she has served as the president of the AHLA Foundation, the charitable arm of the American Hotel and Lodging Association. In this role, she oversees workforce development initiatives to support the hotel industry, promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion, and creates opportunities for advancement. She also recruits individuals from untapped populations and provides anti-human trafficking training for hotel employees to help identify and address potential trafficking incidents. During her tenure, Ms. Blue initiated the “Forward” program to champion women in the industry and coordinated efforts with 35,000 AHLA members across various sectors to collectively support the hotel workforce.
Ms. Blue’s experience also includes serving as a Conti professor at Penn State University from 2023 to 2024, president of DEI+Marketing at Story MKTG from 2020 to 2023, head of global marketing and communications at Technology Coalition Inc. from 2021 to 2023, strategy consultant at PEAK6 in 2021, chief next gen officer at The Female Quotient from 2020 to 2021, co-executive director of Girl Up at the United Nations Foundation from 2013 to 2016, and director of communications and capital campaign manager at Washington Jesuit Academy from 2008 to 2013. She has also served as a community organizer for youth voting from 2007 to 2008, government relations manager at the Managed Funds Association from 2006 to 2007, and assistant to the chief of staff for U.S. Senator E. Benjamin Nelson from 2003 to 2005. Laying an educational foundation, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in computer information systems from Strayer University, and a Master of Education in education policy from The George Washington University. In addition, she dedicates her time as an executive board member at Elizabeth Seton High School, an advisory board member for Girl Up at the United Nations Foundation, a board member for Girls Health Ed, and a board member for the HSMAI Foundation.
Ms. Blue began her political career in Washington, D.C., gaining experience in government affairs on Capitol Hill. Realizing her desire for direct impact, she shifted to social impact work, focusing on urban education and racial justice, and led a global movement under the United Nations foundation, reaching 50 states and 118 countries. After transitioning into the hospitality industry, she now collaborates with chief executive officers across the sector, using her platform to drive positive change and tackle key industry challenges. Throughout her career, one of her most significant achievements was the expansion of Girl Up. Under the United Nations Foundation, the organization grew from generating $750,000 in revenue annually to over $6 million. She attributes her success to her strong passion for helping others, and in the coming years, she is determined to prioritize making a significant positive impact in the lives of others.
