Lt. Col. Yolanda S. Lee, USAF (Ret.), MBA, senior adviser for public and Indian housing and deputy assistant secretary of operations at the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in finance management.
Lt. Col. Lee has established a successful career in budget and financial management, currently serving as senior adviser in the Office of Budget and Financial Management at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development since 2024 and as director since 2021. Her experience includes supporting presidential initiatives as director of financial management and comptroller for the U.S. Air Force from 2017 to 2021 and served as executive officer for SAF/FMC from 2016 to 2017. Additionally, her extensive Air Force tenure includes roles as program and budget analyst in the Office of the Joint Staff Comptroller from 2013 to 2016, comptroller commander at the 17th Training Wing from 2011 to 2013, and finance and acquisition manager for ITAM-AF in 2010. Earlier in her career, she held positions as operations and maintenance appropriation manager for SAF/FMBOI from 2007 to 2010, comptroller for the 480th Intelligence Wing from 2004 to 2006, financial services officer at Altus Air Force Base from 2001 to 2004, and security police enlisted airman from 1990 to 1995.
Laying an educational foundation, Lt. Col. Lee earned a bachelor’s degree in management and finance from Park University, a master’s degree in business administration and management from the University of Phoenix, and a Master of Science in government information leadership with a chief financial officer concentration from National Defense University. She holds a Department of Defense Financial Management Certification Level III, a Chief Financial Officer Certificate, and is a Certified Defense Financial Manager with Acquisition Specialty. Additionally, she is affiliated with the American Society of Military Comptrollers, the Wounded Warriors Project, and the Military Officers Association.
Reflecting on her path, a career highlight for Lt. Col. Lee was her yearlong tour as an adviser to the Iraqi Air Force, where she helped rebuild military branches and guide the creation of their first effective budget, enabling them to present a structured proposal to government officials. Her achievements have earned numerous accolades, including the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, and Iraq Campaign Medal with three service stars. Looking to the future, she plans to establish a real estate business providing housing solutions for veterans and low-income individuals, leveraging her leadership experience to make a meaningful community impact.
