With over a decade of experience to his credit, Mr. Richard-Yu has established a successful career in manufacturing, specializing in supply chain and logistics. Since 2023, he has excelled as senior director of administrative operations at East West Manufacturing, where he ensures efficient logistics operations for the physical movement of cargo, manages freight profitability by tracking costs and market rates to maintain profit margins, and oversees inventory planning and management to ensure optimal stock levels for customer needs. His prior roles at East West Manufacturing include director of administrative operations from 2021 to 2023, administrative operations manager from 2016 to 2021, international logistics coordinator from 2015 to 2016, and customer account analyst from 2013 to 2015. Additionally, he dedicates his time to the George Washington University CXX Board Advisory Council. Laying an educational foundation, he earned a Bachelor of Science in biology and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from the University of Mississippi in 2011. Additionally, he completed the ISO 9001:2015 Internal Quality Auditing program at the Georgia Institute of Technology.
Reflecting on his path, eleven years ago, Mr. Richard-Yu interviewed for a position at East West Manufacturing and began his career as a customer account analyst at the front desk, managing entry-level accounts. From those humble beginnings, he climbed the ranks through hard work and dedication, holding six different positions within the company over the past eleven years. One of his proudest accomplishments is his leadership in the ongoing development of a new global ERP system, a significant milestone for the company. While this system is intended to eventually replace the current one, the team is diligently navigating the complexities of the transition. Managing the integration of multiple business units spread across the globe into a unified ERP platform is a challenging yet rewarding endeavor, demonstrating his commitment to excellence and his ability to lead through complexity.
Currently, one of Mr. Yu’s major achievements involves collaborating with manufacturing and sourcing facilities in Asia to better serve customers in the United States. This effort has reduced reliance on manual processes and led to numerous successful transactions. In partnership with a previous supervisor, he implemented an EDI system that streamlined communication between systems, minimizing manual data entry and enhancing efficiency. Recognizing the importance of scalability for a growing business, he worked directly with local teams in Asia to develop the EDI platform, ensuring seamless communication and tailored responses across locations.
Mr. Yu attributes his success to an unwavering work ethic and a people-first approach. Additionally, his positive attitude has enabled him to foster teamwork and unite individuals under shared goals. A pivotal realization for him was that he didn’t need all the answers, but by cultivating a strong team, they could achieve greater outcomes together than working in isolation. Looking to the future, his goals include building a strong leadership team and supporting organizational growth. In the past three months, he successfully restructured his team, leading to multiple promotions and advancing talented individuals’ careers.
