Bradford Coleman Smoot, Area Director at ProTrans, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Business Management, Operations and Logistics.
Mr. Smoot, lauded for his expertise, has represented the Indianapolis-based company ProTrans since 2015. Hired as an operations team lead, he was promoted to operations manager, terminal manager, and now area director of the Midwest US and Canada. Based in Romulus, Michigan, Mr. Smoot is tasked with reviewing reports, specifically the key performance indicators (KPIs) and index indicators, analyzing data to see how each employee is performing, consulting with managers about staffing, and, among other goals, meeting with the quality directors and the safety director to discuss any damages that have occurred within the facilities.
Having previously served in the military, Mr. Smoot garnered success and expertise as an 88M logistician in the Michigan National Guard, focusing on logistics and driving large trainers and transportation cargo. He then enlisted in active duty with the 15th Engineer Battalion in Germany before completing two deployments, including one in Kuwait for Operation New Dawn. Mr. Smoot also served as a liaison officer, strengthening his logistics skills. His tenure taught him the significance of leadership and operational planning, which contributed to his later success in the civilian sector at ProTrans. Notably, Mr. Smoot enlisted in the military at age 27. Despite being surrounded by younger recruits, he excelled both physically and mentally.
Mr. Smoot completed coursework at Oakland Community College, the American Military University and Columbia Southern University. He remains active in the American Legion and the Uniting for Ukraine program, which supports Ukrainian refugees displaced by the war. Two years ago, Mr. Smoot took in a young man from the country, provided him with a rent-free place to live, and assisted in him acquiring a job with Pro Trans. He attributes mainly to his faith, followed by his parents, who laid the foundation for his success. In the coming years, Mr. Smoot aims to continue helping others. He is considering exploring opportunities in other countries, such as bringing to the U.S. over or getting involved with foreign exchange students.
