As the owner, president and chief executive officer of RxMarketSCIENCE since 2016, he has dedicated his career to analyzing the economic aspects of drug distribution, focusing on the flow of products, money and information within the health care system. His expertise has become sought after by management consulting firms and private equity firms for strategic insights into drug industry dynamics. Additionally, Mr. Mullen collaborates with private equity firms to assess potential investments and conduct due diligence on target companies in the drug industry.
In addition to his leadership at RxMarketSCIENCE, Mr. Mullen co-founded Prescription Logics Inc. in 2016 and serves as its president. The specialized technology solutions development company is based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and focuses on the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors.
Beginning his career with engineering and strategy consulting roles, Mr. Mullen worked for prominent companies such as Motorola Inc., GE Power and IBM Global Business Services. His transition into the pharmaceutical sector was marked by significant achievements, including his tenure as the vice president of finance and corporate development at All Med Medical Supply from 2011 to 2013. During this period, he played a pivotal role in transforming a company acquired for $167 million into a $418 million enterprise within less than three years. This success was followed by another remarkable sale, reaching $1.3 billion under his guidance.
Mr. Mullen’s previous roles included director of corporate strategy and business development at McKesson Corporation from 2013 to 2016 and vice president of strategic planning and business development at The Harvard Drug Group between 2009 and 2011. Throughout his career, Mr. Mullen has been recognized for his ability to drive substantial growth in challenging environments.
Leveraging his extensive background to his advantage, Mr. Mullens holds a Bachelor of Technology from Mahatma Gandhi University, a Master of Science in mechanical engineering and a Master of Science in aerospace engineering from the University of Michigan, a Master of Business Administration in strategy from University of Michigan, and a Master of Science in pharmaceutical outcomes and policy from the University of Florida. His educational achievements have been complemented by several certifications, such as an executive certificate in the business of life science from Indiana University.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Mr. Mullen is actively involved with several industry-related organizations, including the Healthcare Distribution Alliance’s Government Affairs & Policy Committee since 2004. He is also a member of the Strategic Management Society.
