Dr. Caple’s illustrious career is marked by a profound dedication to the intersection of education, technology and psychology. As a senior business analyst, cybersecurity ATO and project manager at Systems Plus Inc. for the U.S. Department of State in Washington, D.C., he manages the risk management framework for cybersecurity and safeguarding applications against attacks. Dr. Caple’s journey in this role began in 2021, following a series of impactful positions that have shaped his expertise in the public and private sectors.
Before being recruited to Systems Plus Inc., Dr. Caple launched Caple Global Associates LLC in Durham, North Carolina, as its manager and chief executive officer, a position he has held since 2007. Leveraging his former success, he worked as a business process analyst for the U.S. Marshals Service within the U.S. Department of Justice in 2021. From 2019 to 2021, Dr. Caple was a training and communications project manager and information technology (IT) security analyst at SiloSmashers Inc., contributing significantly to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s science and technology directorate. His tenure at SiloSmashers Inc. also included roles as an IT security analyst and cybersecurity communications specialist at the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency between 2019 and 2021.
Dr. Caple’s earlier career included pivotal roles such as NC FAST community college configuration coordinator for the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services from 2017 to 2019, and web channel management senior business analyst at Wells Fargo between 2016 and 2017. He also garnered success as an executive director and senior business analyst at Shinshuri Foundation from 2014 to 2016 and held senior business analyst positions at Delta Air Lines and Bank of America Corporation between 2012 and 2014. Among other roles, Dr. Caple was the vice president for academic affairs at the African University College of Communications in Accra, Ghana, from 2011 to 2012, where he played a crucial role in developing their educational programs. He was also an organizational development analyst at State Farm Corporate Systems and a courseware technologist at Lockheed Martin, dating back to 2004.
In academia, Dr. Caple excelled as a professor of curriculum and instruction at the University of North Carolina System in Greensboro from 1997 to 2004. He also taught mass communication and psychology as an assistant professor and adjunct professor at Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Dr. Caple’s educational journey began with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology with a focus on business from North Carolina Central University in 1989, followed by a Master of Arts in instructional technology on campus in 1991. He then earned a Doctor of Philosophy in mathematics, science and technology education from North Carolina State University in 1996.
Beyond his degrees, Dr. Caple’s professional affiliations include membership in organizations such as the Society for Applied Learning Technology, the Association for Talent Development, the Association of Black Psychologists, the International Information System Security Certification Consortium and the International Society for Performance Improvement. Civically engaged, he is active in Toastmasters International and Rotary International and has held several former board positions. Additionally, Dr. Caple has supported various initiatives, including Special Olympics as a medic and homeless initiatives through the Steven Williams Foundation. His passion for the arts is evident through his support for Alvin Ailey and The Kennedy Center.
Dr. Caple’s scholarly work includes authoring several publications, such as “Addressing Business Need: The Benefits of SharePoint 2013 for Building Communities of Practice” and co-authoring “The Black Student’s Guide to Graduate and Professional School.” He has also been recognized globally for his expertise on spaced repetition and educational technology by Appency Inc. and other organizations.
Eager for the future of his career, Dr. Caple envisions himself as a public figure and thought leader on a global stage while aspiring to return to academia as a university president or chancellor. His determination is deeply rooted in values instilled by his parents, a testament to his enduring commitment to making a positive impact domestically and internationally.
