Having excelled as the director at EyeCRO since 2025, he plays a pivotal role in model development and client engagement, ensuring seamless integration of tasks across the company’s headquarters in Oklahoma and its satellite lab in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Dr. Harman’s expertise further extends to biosafety and animal accreditation, where he oversees safety protocols and facility operations, maintaining the highest standards for research environments.

Prior to his present position, Dr. Harman worked as the associate director at EyeCRO from 2022 to 2025, during which time he honed his leadership skills and contributed to the company’s growth. Moreover, he has found success as the chief executive officer of Habanero Harman’s Hot Sauce, Harman Farms, and JCHarman Industries since 2023, showcasing his entrepreneurial spirit. Since 2016, Dr. Harman has also been active with Harman Biotech & Consulting as chief executive officer, further demonstrating his versatility in both scientific and business domains.

Before embarking upon his professional path, Dr. Harman pursued an education at Marshall University, from which he earned a Bachelor of Science in biology, biomedical science and chemistry in 2012. He concluded his formal studies at LSU Health New Orleans in 2021, graduating with a Doctor of Philosophy in biochemistry and molecular biology. He subsequently completed postdoctoral education and training through the T32 Molecular Basis of Eye Disease Training Fellowship at Harvard Medical School in 2023. Dr. Harman’s academic accomplishments have been instrumental in shaping his expertise in analytical chemistry, bioinformatics, multi-omics research and ocular disease.

Throughout his career, Dr. Harman has been recognized with numerous accolades that underscore his impact on the field. Notably, he was selected for the ARVO Science Communications Fellowship in 2019 and subsequently received the Emerging Advocate Award from ARVO in 2020. In 2021, he was celebrated as an Emerging Vision Scientist by the National Alliance for Eye and Vision Research. His dedication to advancing vision research is further evidenced by his involvement with various professional organizations such as the National Association of Vision Professionals and the Association for Ocular Pharmacology & Therapeutics.

Dr. Harman’s commitment to civic engagement is reflected in his roles with Lions Clubs International and Healing Hands Global Inc., where he has volunteered since 2014. His leadership extends to the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), where he has served on multiple committees including chairing the Advocacy and Outreach Committee since 2024.

In addition to his primary endeavors, Dr. Harman is deeply motivated by personal experiences with geographic atrophy, a severe form of age-related macular degeneration (AMD). This connection drives his research efforts aimed at developing potential treatments for AMD, a condition that affects millions and presents significant challenges due to genetic components and other factors. His work not only seeks scientific advancement but also advocates for funding to support vision-related initiatives.

Dr. Harman’s passion for innovation is complemented by his personal interests in farming, physical fitness activities like running and cycling, and managing real estate rentals.
