Richard Justin DeMarco, Founding Partner at Montroy DeMarco Architecture LLP, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Architecture and Design.
Mr. DeMarco has established himself as a prominent figure in the architectural industry, with a career spanning over four decades. As a founding partner of Montroy DeMarco Architecture LLP since 2007, he has been instrumental in cultivating new clientele and assisting existing ones in developing strategies to build, sell or rent properties without incurring financial losses. Mr. DeMarco’s expertise in residential, mixed-use, hospitality and commercial projects has earned him recognition and respect within the field.
Established in 1990 as Montroy Andersen DeMarco (MADGI), owners Dan Montroy and Steven Andersen grew the business and later acquired Mr. DeMarco, becoming the firm’s third partner. The firm focuses heavily on designing environmentally and socially responsible buildings while advancing and improving the health and human experience.
Before joining forces with the organization, Mr. DeMarco spent two decades as an associate partner at SLCE Architects between 1985 and 2005. There, he focused on high-rise residential planning and development, as well as mixed-use and recreational facilities. This tenure provided Mr. DeMarco with invaluable insights into the industry, enabling him to refine his skills and develop a deep understanding of architectural design and project management.
Mr. DeMarco’s success in architecture also included his earlier role as a job captain at Spector Group from 1982 to 1985. This position allowed him to gain hands-on experience in managing design projects for several speculative office buildings on Long Island, New York. Before that, Mr. DeMarco participated in a design studio led by Ronald Goodman as a senior draftsman between 1981 and 1982, which laid the foundation for his future endeavors in architecture.
Born in Schenectady, New York, Mr. DeMarco studied locally. He earned an associate degree in civil engineering, cum laude, from Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, New York, in 1979. Subsequently, he received a Bachelor of Architecture, summa cum laude, from the Urban Design Studio at the New York Institute of Technology in New York City in 1983. That same year, Mr. DeMarco achieved a master’s degree in planning from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy. These academic achievements reflect his relentless hunger for learning and perseverance, qualities that have been pivotal to his success. Highly qualified in his field, he is a registered architect in both New York and New Jersey.
Mr. DeMarco’s professional affiliations further influence and impact the architectural landscape. He is a member of the National Fire Protection Association and the U.S. Green Building Council. He is also associated with the National Accreditation Board for Architects, underscoring his commitment to maintaining high standards within the industry.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Mr. DeMarco is actively involved in civic-minded organizations. He has served as an architect for Women in Need’s WIN Victim Services since 1997 and participates in charity golf events.
In light of his contributions, Mr. DeMarco received an Award of Merit in 2007. Drawing inspiration from his father, a carpenter, he learned a lot by observing him. These experiences allowed him to appreciate craftsmanship and to think creatively. In high school, Mr. DeMarco was fortunate to have taken an architecture class, which ultimately led him to pursue the field further after graduation. He credits his success and tenure in architecture to his relentless hunger for learning. He sees perseverance as a vital quality, and his continuous desire to acquire new knowledge has been a key contributor to his achievements.
