Michael A. Saiz, safety manager and construction health safety technician (CHST) at KG Walters Construction, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in construction and safety.
Initially establishing himself in a 30-year career as a professional trainer, Mr. Saiz has showcased his perseverance and adaptability in shifting to a different path. In 2016, he became a health and safety manager for Neeser Construction, where he familiarized himself with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations as they relate to construction. Mr. Saiz led the company in establishing its first-ever safety committee, which was required by the state of Nevada as it reached over 25 employees. During this time, he also served as a foreman for several years, learning the basics of day-to-day operations in the construction field, including how to use essential equipment.
Building on this experience, he joined KG Walters Construction as a safety manager and CHST in 2024. His responsibilities include inspecting job sites, managing complex projects, attending meetings and collaborating with local government agencies and initiatives such as the Truckee Meadows Water Reclamation Facility. Mr. Saiz’s work with KG Walters has offered him opportunities across Carson City, Lake Tahoe, Reno and Sparks areas in Nevada. He prioritizes keeping employees safe through careful training and well-developed processes that avoid unnecessary danger.
Prior to beginning his career in construction safety, Mr. Saiz devoted 30 years to helping others as a personal trainer. He contributed to two of the largest athletic clubs in Reno and owned his own business, creating a foundation of leadership and self-discipline that he has continued to rely on. Mr. Saiz additionally ran a clothing shop, VO2 Max, which was featured in the prominent fashion publication Women’s Wear Daily.
Both of Mr. Saiz’s career paths have been supported by his educational background. He completed coursework at the Truckee Meadows Community College earlier in his life. Since then, Mr. Saiz has bolstered his credentials with constant training and improvement. Among other endorsements, he is certified as a compliance inspector and preparer of stormwater pollution prevention plans through StormwaterONE; in unbonded post-tensioning installation from the Post-Tensioning Institute; as a safety and health practitioner through the Nevada Department of Business and Industry’s Safety Consultation and Training Section (SCATS); as a construction health and safety technician through the Board of Certified Safety Professionals; and in CPR, automated external defibrillator (AED) use and first aid through the American Safety & Health Institute.
Mr. Saiz has garnered numerous accolades for his performance in the field. Most notably, he stood above 80,000 employers across the state of Nevada to receive the Safe Partner Award from SCATS in 2020, which he considers a highlight of his professional journey thus far. Mr. Saiz was also presented with an Excellent Safety Record and Zero Incident Rate 2024 Commendation from The Associated General Contractors of America. The same organization ranked his work as having the Best Safety Record in 2019, 2021, 2022 and 2023.
Outside of his career, Mr. Saiz has been a dedicated husband for nearly 25 years. In his free time, he enjoys taking part in competitive bodybuilding and participating in the Ferrari Club. Though he sees retirement in the distance, Mr. Saiz remains committed to supporting the safety of his team at KG Walters Construction every day.
