John A. Randolph, CIMA, CPWA, managing director and private wealth adviser at RBC Wealth Management, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in finance and wealth management.
Before joining the wealth management field, Mr. Randolph devoted 40 years to working in sales and marketing, with a particular focus on the outboard engine manufacturing industry. This first chapter of his career culminated in 1993 when he became the director of sales for Mercury Marine, holding that position for more than five years. Following that, Mr. Randolph served for several years as the vice president of sales and marketing for a retail boat dealership in Austin, Texas. During this time, he assisted in operating 40 stores located from Texas to Florida.
In 2001, Mr. Randolph was recruited to join Bernstein Private Wealth Management as a vice president. Though he had not worked directly in finance up to this point, he quickly discovered how his skills in sales translated to this new path and realized he had many of the abilities and personality traits necessary to succeed. Within nine months of starting at Bernstein Private Wealth Management, Mr. Randolph secured a major client, showcasing his drive. By the end of his first year, he had built up over $70 million in client assets, further proving that this was a transition he could excel in.
After establishing himself in finance, Mr. Randolph shifted to Merrill Lynch, where he took on the roles of first vice president of investments and resident director. From 2010 to 2018, he contributed as senior vice president of wealth management at UBS, demonstrating leadership and mastery over this second professional path.
Reaching his latest milestone in 2018, Mr. Randolph became a managing director and private wealth adviser for RBC Wealth Management. Created over 100 years ago, RBC Wealth Management prides itself on a personalized approach to financial guidance, creating plans that are specifically tailored to the needs of each client. Under Mr. Randolph’s leadership, his team has become one of the top five in the firm, managing more than $1 billion in assets. Mr. Randolph, himself, ranks in the top 20 of individual producers at RBC Wealth Management.
Prior to embarking upon his professional journey, Mr. Randolph set a foundation for his future through his education. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Denison University in 1984. As his path has shifted, Mr. Randolph has pursued additional training in finance. He was certified as an investment management analyst in 2005 and as a private wealth adviser in 2015, both through the Investments & Wealth Institute. Additionally, Mr. Randolph has passed exams as a general securities representative and in uniform combined state law through the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority.
Outside of his career, Mr. Randolph has been married for more than 40 years; he is a loving father to four daughters and grandfather to six grandchildren. In his free time, he relaxes by playing golf and fly-fishing. In planning for the future, Mr. Randolph is eager to continue growing his team and its contributions to RBC Wealth Management. He also intends to devote more of his time to mentoring younger colleagues in the wealth management and adviser space, with the goal of setting them up for leadership further down the line.
