In this capacity, he has partnered with multiple lines of business, including accounting and treasury, to realign the finance team’s structure for future growth. Since joining the team, he has successfully expanded team roles to ensure effective corporate leadership and provided consistent insights on financial performance to senior management. Mr. Murrin has also restructured the approach to financial data presentation, collaborated on special projects with leadership and run corporate models for run rate analysis. Among various responsibilities, he works closely with the strategy team on multi-year planning, tracking hiring practices, managing the close process during designated cycles and collaborating with external treasury teams.
Mr. Murrin held several key positions at Red Hat, a leading provider of enterprise open source solutions, between 2020 and 2025, including senior financial analyst for corporate finance, finance manager for corporate expense consolidation and finance manager for sales. In 2024, he was named the senior finance manager for Americas services and global spend.
Mr. Murrin’s earlier career took place at International Business Machines (IBM) Corporation from 2013 to 2020, and was foundational in shaping his expertise and leadership style. Hired as a financial analyst and IS pre-approval expense coordinator, he worked his way up to becoming the IBM Global Markets HQ chief financial officer business planning advisor from 2018 to 2020. Mr. Murrin’s most notable achievement included his participation in IBM’s MAPS program. This week-long assessment enhanced his leadership skills and self-awareness, and he was recognized with top rankings from executive observers.
Highly educated, Mr. Murrin’s academic foundation included a bachelor’s degree in accounting in 2014 and a Master of Business Administration in finance and financial management services in 2015 from Iona University in New Rochelle, New York. While working toward his undergraduate degree, he served as a procurement analyst intern at Atlas Air Inc. from 2012 to 2013, where he gained early exposure to supply chain finance functions.
Beyond his professional responsibilities, Mr. Murrin is committed to civic engagement and community service. He serves on the finance, business, economics and legal studies board at Iona University, contributing his expertise to academic programming and student development initiatives. Mr. Murrin’s volunteerism includes involvement with the Dress for Success program through a local community service club, supporting Breakthrough T1D (formerly Juvenile Diabetes Foundation), volunteering with Relay for Life through the American Cancer Society, participating in Walk to End Alzheimer’s events organized by the Alzheimer’s Association, and contributing time to Walk for Breast Cancer initiatives.
