Mr. Hopfensperger’s career is marked by leadership, innovation and a steadfast commitment to the success of others. As a portfolio director for CTI, a Parsons Company and high-tech software, systems engineering and operational support corporation headquartered in Maryland, since 2023, he has demonstrated exceptional expertise in project management and portfolio management. Under his direction, CTI experienced remarkable growth, with revenue increasing by approximately 150 percent since joining the organization. Notably, Mr. Hopfensperger expanded the portfolio to become the largest within the organization, both in staff size and revenue, reflecting his strategic vision and dedication to organizational excellence.
Having begun his career at CTI in 2021, Mr. Hopfensperger was fortunate to serve as a U.S. Department of Defense SkillBridge intern, which provided him with valuable industry experience as he transitioned from military service. He was then hired for the position of senior manager and product support technician between 2021 and 2023, where he was responsible for overseeing technical operations and supporting product development initiatives.
Apart from his experience with CTI, Mr. Hopfensperger was the owner of Go Pines, a veteran-owned and operated small business in Southern Pines, North Carolina, from 2022 to 2025. In this capacity, he applied his leadership skills and entrepreneurial acumen to foster business development in the electric vehicle charging station space.
Mr. Hopfensperger’s professional journey is deeply rooted in his extensive military background. He dedicated 20 years to the U.S. Air Force Special Operations Command, serving in several key roles. From 2018 to 2021, he was the chief of weapons and tactics at Hurlburt Field in Florida, where he led specialized teams and developed advanced operational strategies. His earlier assignments included combat controller between 2001 and 2021, combat control school instructor from 2007 to 2011, and flight chief between 2016 and 2018.
In preparation for his future, Mr. Hopfensperger obtained several degrees, beginning with an associate’s degree in airway science in 2008 and an associate’s degree in military science and technology in 2009 from the Community College of the Air Force in Montgomery, Alabama. He subsequently received a Bachelor of Business Administration from American Sentinel University in Aurora, Colorado, in 2013 and a master’s degree in commercial aviation from Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi, in 2019.
In addition to his formal education, Mr. Hopfensperger’s commitment to professional development is evidenced by several professional credentials, including being a certified project officer from the Institute of Project Management. He also earned designations as a private aircraft pilot from the Federal Aviation Administration, as an occupational instructor from Community College of the Air Force, and as an air traffic control tower operator from the Federal Aviation Administration.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Mr. Hopfensperger has contributed to civic life as a baseball coach for the Navarre Youth Sports Association, demonstrating his commitment to youth development and community engagement. Mr. Hopfensperger’s exemplary service has been recognized through numerous awards, including Senior Noncommissioned Officer of the Year for the 24th Special Operations Wing and Noncommissioned Officer of the Year for the 21st Special Patriots Squadron.
Throughout his career, Mr. Hopfensperger has been recognized for his ability to lead with empathy and integrity. He credits his effectiveness to lessons learned during his military service, emphasizing that authentic leadership involves caring about people’s futures and helping them reach their goals. Mentorship has also played a significant role throughout Mr. Hopfensperger’s life.
Looking ahead, Mr. Hopfensperger aims to expand his portfolio and team within CTI and continue mentoring new members within the organization while establishing himself as a key contributor to organizational growth. He also plans to complete his Master of Business Administration before pursuing doctoral studies.
