Mr. Marino has become recognized for his long and successful career in broadcasting, spanning more than four decades and marked by versatility and a deep commitment to the industry. Since 2017, he has been a reporter and program host for Westchester Talk Radio/Sharc Creative, while also serving as a writer, producer and news anchor for Total Traffic & Weather Networks since 2018. Furthermore, Mr. Marino balances his time serving as a radio announcer, on-air personality and disc jockey with JVC Broadcasting since 2019.
Beginning his career in broadcasting in 1979, Mr. Marino was hired by WTBQ, where he started as an afternoon drive announcer. One year later, he advanced to WSBH in Southampton, Long Island, where he worked under Mal Khan, the owner and manager. Under his visionary guidance and mentorship, Mr. Marino quickly rose to the position of program and music director at just 24 years old.
In 1987, Mr. Marino transitioned to WSAS, where he delved into talk radio and covered major stories, such as the Toronto Broadway Scandal. He remained with WSAS for over a decade, while also contributing to weekend music programming and synopsis shows.
The mid-1990s saw Mr. Marino fulfill his ambition of working at WHLI on Long Island. He was later selected to take over weekend duties and soon began anchoring sports content for 1010 Wins for about a year. Mr. Marino subsequently joined WCBS 880, where he spent a decade as an on-air personality and anchor, while also filling in at WNPR and stations WLIX and WLUX.
During this period, Mr. Marino expanded his expertise by working as a sports anchor for Bloomberg Radio and contributing to Shadow Traffic on CBS and 1010 Wins. In 1991, he began anchoring sports at FAS Radio and became one of the first anchors when the sports department opened at Shadow Traffic. Mr. Marino also became the Saturday night sports anchor on the ABC Radio Sports Talk show.
After leaving CBS in late 1998 following a 10-year tenure, Mr. Marino returned to WHLI before ultimately joining JVC Broadcasting, where he reconnected with former colleagues and served as the primary backup announcer. In the early 2000s, Mr. Marino expanded into public address announcing. His career continued with roles at Total Traffic & Weather Networks, acquired by iHeart Media, where he focused on writing and reporting until 2014. He then took over the morning show at WBLX before concentrating on public address announcing full-time.
Mr. Marino studied at Fordham University in New York City, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in mass communication and media studies in 1978. While attending college, he launched his broadcasting career at the college radio station WFUV from 1976 to 1978, gaining foundational experience that would shape his professional trajectory.
Throughout his career, Mr. Marino has been recognized for his professionalism and contributions to broadcasting. He is a member of the New Jersey Society of Professional Journalists and has maintained strong ties within the industry through ongoing collaborations. Civically, Mr. Marino has devoted time to various organizations. Most notably, he was an active member of the track and field committee at White Plains High School for over 35 years. He also served as a public address announcer for various New York schools, including Bridge Hampton’s new boys’ soccer program.
Among Mr. Marino’s most notable achievements was serving as host of Westchester’s Sports Hall of Fame for nearly two decades. He also had the opportunity to serve as a consultant for both the Hall of Fame and the Westchester County Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation in 2022. That same year, Mr. Marino was honored by the department alongside Hall of Fame inductees with a special plaque and pin.
Mr. Marino’s accolades include receiving the Distinguished Service Award from Westchester in 1997. Today, he remains dedicated to embracing new opportunities within broadcasting and public service whenever they arise, continually seeking ways to contribute further while pursuing his passion for communication and community engagement.
