Jasen E. Petersen, Chief Executive Officer at Ionic Alliance Group Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements and leadership in the Biotechnology Industry.
Mr. Petersen has established a notable career spanning over 25 years in engineering, biotechnology and medical device innovation. Since 2022, he has served as the vice president and chief executive officer of Ionic Alliance Group Inc., where he has been instrumental in advancing ion biotechnology for medical and cosmetic applications. In this capacity, Mr. Petersen has overseen the development of an active pharmaceutical ingredient that functions as a formulaic base for both medical products and cosmetics. He has also participated in conferences in Mexico, engaged with potential distributors and physicians, and managed the acquisition and shipment of cosmetic products.
Having co-founded his organization in 2019, Mr. Petersen has supported research and philanthropic efforts related to ion biotechnology. Under his leadership, Ionic Alliance Group Inc. introduced ion gel ZCM25, an antimicrobial and antioxidant semi-solid topical gel designed for infection control and wound healing. The product is manufactured in Mexico and has received regulatory approval from Cofepris in Mexico and MOHEP in the United Arab Emirates. This innovation marked the debut of the first ion biotechnology product known as I B A L, or “eyeball,” which is recognized as the first medical product based on this technology.
In addition to his work in biotechnology, Mr. Petersen has held the position of vice president of engineering at Jayco Enterprises since 2013. In this role, he has applied his expertise in building medical laser systems and contributed to advancements in laser-based medical devices.
From 2010 to 2013, Mr. Petersen worked as a technology manager and consultant at Cook Medical. He also excelled for more than a decade as the director of engineering and manufacturing at Convergent Laser Technologies between 1997 and 2009. During this period, Mr. Petersen led teams responsible for developing advanced surgical laser systems for medical applications. His early career included engineering roles at Lockheed Missiles and Space Company, now Lockheed Martin Corporation, from 1996 to 1997 and at Moller International between 1995 and 1996.
Mr. Petersen’s academic background includes a Bachelor of Science in aeronautical and mechanical engineering from the University of California, Davis, completed in 1996. He further enhanced his credentials by earning certification in drug and medical device development, a strategic approach from MIT xPRO, between 2019 and 2020. This equipped Mr. Petersen with advanced knowledge essential for navigating regulatory landscapes and driving product development.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Mr. Petersen is committed to civic engagement and youth development. Since 2016, he has served as the president of the board of directors for Eudaimonia. He notably led efforts during the summer of 2020 to provide a haven for children amid global uncertainty. He is also a partner with the Mountain Resource Center in Conifer, Colorado, an organization founded in 1990 that promotes self-sufficiency and improves the quality of life for those residing just west of Denver, Colorado. Moreover, Mr. Petersen actively coaches youth development programs.
Mr. Petersen’s expertise in building medical laser systems, the laser lithotripsy market and the broader medical device sector is widely recognized. As a seasoned researcher, his contributions have included the academic publishing of “Effect of Holmium: YAG Laser Pulse Width on Lithotripsy Retropulsion in Vitro,” as co-author, released by Sage Publications in the Journal of Endourology.
Looking ahead, Mr. Petersen aims to ensure that I B A L becomes widely recognized as one of the primary treatments for wound healing due to its high safety profile, attributable to its composition of zinc, copper, magnesium, sulfates, ammonium and hydrogen. He attributes his professional success thus far to a deep-seated curiosity and a healthy skepticism toward conventional authority, qualities that have fueled his drive for discovery and innovation throughout his career.
