His responsibilities also include managing utility infrastructure, conducting heavy civil Environmental Protection Agency cleanup and ensuring environmental compliance. Additionally, he manages stormwater systems, performs closed-circuit television inspections, line jetting and rail car cleaning.
Prior to joining Pro-Vac, Mr. McPherson held several key roles at Kinetic Energy Services. From 2023 to 2024, he was appointed as the southern Colorado area director, where he continued to build on his expertise in regional operations and project oversight. Between 2022 and 2023, he served as the director of business development, focusing on expanding the aforementioned company’s reach and fostering meaningful relationships with clients and partners. Between 2020 and 2022, he advanced from operator to project manager within Kinetic Energy Services’ hydrovac division, gaining hands-on experience in field operations and project execution. His tenure at Kinetic Energy Services began in 2020, where he contributed significantly to the company’s growth until its acquisition by Pro-Vac.
Throughout his career, Mr. McPherson has been an active member of the National Utility Contractors Association, reflecting his dedication to industry standards and professional development. He has also sponsored events for the association, further demonstrating his commitment to civic engagement within his field.
Mr. McPherson’s educational background includes an associate degree with federal apprenticeships in general studies, carpentry, industrial maintenance and project management from Kansas State University. He also completed coursework at Liberty University and Pueblo Community College. This diverse academic foundation has equipped him with a broad skill set that supports his multifaceted role in operations management and business development. Born in Salida, Mr. McPherson is guided by strong family values rooted in care, concern and compassion — principles inspired by his grandfather’s adage “family over everything.”
Influenced by lifelong friends Shad and Casey Martin — founders of Kinetic Energy Services — Mr. McPherson credits their mentorship during pivotal moments in his life as instrumental to his professional journey. He values genuine relationships with coworkers and clients above all else, considering business development through personal connection the most rewarding aspect of his work. Furthermore, his two younger brothers, Graham and Galen, have been steadfast confidants who have helped him navigate various challenges in life.
Mr. McPherson’s leadership is marked by his commitment to elevating those around him, emphasizing that true leadership is demonstrated by going above and beyond for teammates and providing opportunities for others to grow. He is a strong advocate for the principles outlined in “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People,” which he discovered during college alongside guidance from the Bible. His achievements have been recognized through multiple accolades, including leadership awards, teammate awards and the Gold Shovel Award from both Kinetic Energy Services and Pro-Vac.
Looking toward the future, Mr. McPherson plans to continue advancing in operations management while leveraging his hybrid skill set focused on building relationships across diverse communities. Although he initially studied psychology with intentions of pursuing youth counseling during college, he ultimately chose a different path that has enabled him to connect with people from all walks of life — teaching others while learning from them along the way.
Mr. McPherson attributes his success primarily to his faith in God as a Christian as well as the unwavering support of family and close friends who share similar values. His guiding mantra remains to leave every place he works just a little bit better than he found it — a testament to his enduring commitment to service-driven leadership.
