Nasir Abdalla, founder of Bantu Global Alliance, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in nonprofits and entrepreneurship.

Overcoming great adversity in his personal and family history and his broader culture, Mr. Abdalla has swiftly established himself as a successful entrepreneur and a leader in the Bantu community. His journey to this point began before he was born, when his parents fled their home in Somalia during that country’s civil war, during which the Bantu ethnic minority group was targeted and discriminated against. Mr. Abdalla was born in Kenya in 1994 and moved to the United States at age 10. Although he has never been allowed to visit Somalia due to continued danger for his people, he has remained connected to the country, including speaking regularly with his grandfather, who still lives there.

Mr. Abdalla started his professional life as an interpreter with the International Institute of St. Louis in 2015. In addition to fluent English, he speaks Somali and the Maay Maay dialect of Somali, which is used in Ethiopia, Kenya and the southern regions of Somalia. Working as an interpreter instilled in Mr. Abdalla an even deeper sense of dedication to helping others. He remained involved with the International Institute of St. Louis until 2022.

Supported by his father and determined to make the most of the opportunities afforded to him through life in the United States, Mr. Abdalla opened his first business, Abdalla Store, in 2017. He oversaw that small East African grocery store as a manager until 2025. Mr. Abdalla set himself up for further success as a money market trader at Taaj Service starting in 2018 and as the owner of Darba Somalian Restaurant in 2020. He is especially proud of his 2021 establishment of Darba Realty, the first Somali-owned real estate business in St. Louis.

Outside of his business ventures, Mr. Abdalla has demonstrated a deep commitment to lifting up Bantu people around the world. With that in mind, in 2025, he founded Bantu Global Alliance, a nonprofit organization focused on providing Bantu people with greater access to education, health care, housing and opportunities for self-reliance. Mr. Abdalla was inspired to begin this endeavor after taking trips back to East Africa, visiting Kenya, Mozambique and Tanzania, and discovering that in most cases life has not improved for Bantu people. He believes it was necessary to create an organization that could operate as a global rallying group for the Bantu, as opposed to smaller community groups that only help their local area.

With that in mind, Mr. Abdalla’s primary goal for the future is to improve Bantu Global Alliance’s recognition on the worldwide stage. He aims to expand its reach by bringing in new partners and sponsors, building out a stronger infrastructure in underserved regions, and showcasing the impact of these efforts on the lives of Bantu people. Ultimately, Mr. Abdalla hopes to meaningfully aid the development of housing, hospitals and educational institutions in Bantu communities in Kenya, Somalia and Tanzania, as well as those living in Europe and the United States. As his nonprofit work grows, he intends to focus on transparency and enduring change toward dignity, justice and safety for his people.
