Jimmy Edwards, Founder and President at CAREducation Foundation and Founder and President at CAREevolution, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Nonprofit Administration and Education Consulting.
Mr. Edwards has established himself as a leading expert in education and education leadership, demonstrating a commitment to innovative learning approaches and systemic reform throughout his career. Since 2024, Mr. Edwards has served as the founder and president of CAREvolution, a global education initiative dedicated to reimagining schooling through self-directed, project-based learning and inclusive community design. He leads CAREvolution in a capacity comparable to that of a superintendent, uniting multiple microschools within a shared physical campus and piloting an online platform that enables homeschooled and geographically dispersed students to participate in a comprehensive academic program.
Grounded in his doctoral research at the University of Virginia, Mr. Edwards challenges the historical foundations of standardized education by advancing a globally informed, human-centered curriculum shaped by diverse religious, cultural and socioeconomic perspectives. CAREvolution is currently developing a membership and accreditation network to certify educators and accredit programs aligned with its learner-centered model, empowering communities worldwide to establish CARE cohorts in their own cities. CAREvolution also actively supports students with disabilities and neurodivergent learners who often thrive in self-directed environments after struggling in conventional systems. Through this work, Mr. Edwards is building an inclusive ecosystem designed to expand opportunity, foster creativity and redefine standards of educational legitimacy worldwide.
In 2025, Mr. Edwards also founded the CAREducation Foundation, where he serves as the founder and president. Under his leadership, the foundation operates as a nonprofit public charity with a sliding-scale tuition model, enabling families to contribute according to their means while advancing a vision of free, donor-supported public education. Mr. Edwards emphasizes community ownership in decisions related to curriculum, instruction, standards, assessments and allocation of financial resources, fostering collective responsibility as a cornerstone of the foundation’s long-term sustainability.
Before these roles, Mr. Edwards taught upper-level mathematics at the American International School in Lima, Peru. During his tenure there, he continued his doctoral studies at the University of Virginia while engaging with international students and refining his approach to learner-centered education.
Mr. Edwards also spent 10 years as an instructional coach as well as a mathematics and music teacher for Prince William County Public Schools, beginning in 2015. In these capacities, he led school improvement initiatives that produced unprecedented gains in student achievement, particularly among students with disabilities, successfully reversing long-standing achievement gaps.
At one school under Mr. Edwards’s guidance, standardized mathematics proficiency for students with disabilities increased from 54% to 100%, effectively closing the gap. In another instance, accreditation status was preserved due to outstanding performance, earning the highest Level 1 categorization among all student groups in mathematics. By implementing the research-based CARE Learning framework, he transformed an alternative school by reducing chronic absenteeism to 0% despite serving many students assigned for disciplinary reasons related to opioid addiction. Students not only outperformed their peers across the county on common assessments but also developed renewed enthusiasm for attending school. Building on these results, Mr. Edwards and his team created a student-centered project-based learning environment and collaboratively reimagined educational standards with stakeholders.
Mr. Edwards’ academic background has been instrumental in shaping his professional achievements. He received a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics and a master’s degree in mathematics education from the University of Virginia, both awarded in 2015. Subsequently, he earned an Education Specialist Degree in curriculum and instruction leadership from the University of Virginia in 2024.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Mr. Edwards is deeply engaged with his community both personally and civically. He resides in Manassas, Virginia, where he provides affordable housing to friends and community members, a testament to his belief in connection and shared responsibility.
An accomplished musician, Mr. Edwards’s creative pursuits include writing original songs and performing in musicals, such as Newsies and Frozen. He also frequently integrates music into his educational work and has composed an album reflecting the principles of his CARE Learning framework.
Mr. Edwards’s work has garnered national attention. Recently, he was featured by Reuters and NBC in 2025 for his contributions to educational innovation and advocacy for equity-driven reform. Throughout his academic journey, Mr. Edwards has attributed his success to a strong support system comprising family and friends whose steadfast encouragement inspired him to pursue ambitious goals and bold leaps of faith. Additionally, his doctoral program prompted a spiritual awakening that deepened his sense of purpose beyond organized religion and reinforced his commitment to serving others through transformative educational leadership.
Looking ahead, Mr. Edwards plans to expand pilot microschool programs while advocating the adoption of project-based learning models across existing schools as well as newly established educational initiatives. He seeks collaboration with public schools interested in implementing these approaches within specialized programs for gifted students or students with disabilities or on a schoolwide basis alongside partnerships with alternative education founders and homeschooling cooperatives seeking to license their curriculum. Moreover, Mr. Edwards remains steadfastly dedicated to modeling values that extend beyond classroom instruction, emphasizing collaboration, compassion, creativity, inclusion and collective responsibility, always striving to improve the lives of those around him through transformative leadership in education.
