Ms. Sanford has enjoyed a rewarding career in entrepreneurship in the pet services industry. Over five years ago, she established Squeaky Clean Grooming LLC, an all-inclusive mobile grooming services company based in Orlando, Florida, in 2018. Her experience with mobile grooming has taught her valuable lessons about business operations and customer service. Initially operating two grooming trucks, Ms. Sanford later downsized to one as her other business, Whisker Park, saw an uptick in demand.
Established in 2022, Whisker Park serves as a unique cat grooming and boarding facility in Winter Park, Florida, that fills a significant gap in the community. Ms. Sanford’s vision for Whisker Park was born from her commitment to providing specialized care for cats, distinguishing her business from the numerous dog grooming salons in the area. Whisker Park offers grooming, luxury boarding and a curated boutique, serving the growing demographic of affluent cat owners seeking specialized care. The company strives to solve various cat-related issues and provide support, while ensuring cat owners a place that truly understands feline needs.
Before venturing into pet grooming, Ms. Sanford served as the vice president of operations at Swag Robot LLC from 2013 to 2015. Despite the company’s eventual financial struggles and legal challenges, she gained invaluable insights into business management. This experience led Ms. Sanford to pivot toward the pet industry, where she found solace and inspiration working as a bather at a large pet store chain. Her early career also included the role of office manager at RT Art from 2011 to 2013.
Ms. Sanford’s educational background includes an Associate of Applied Science in computer engineering from Miami Dade College, earned in 2004, followed by coursework in electrical and electronics engineering at Eastern Florida State College in 2006 and the University of Central Florida in 2009. These academic pursuits have equipped her with analytical skills that have been instrumental in her problem-solving approach within the pet grooming industry. Ms. Sanford’s dedication to continuous learning is further exemplified by her certified feline master groomer credential and her engagement with a business coach from Pet Retail Helper.
Leading an entrepreneurial journey marked by resilience and innovation, Ms. Sanford attributes her success to perseverance and maintaining a growth mindset. She believes that consistent effort leads to progress and encourages others never to give up on their ambitions. Notably, Ms. Sanford’s entrepreneurial spirit was evident early on when she attempted to start a computer repair business in her early 20s.
Ms. Sanford is currently pursuing credentials as a certified feline aesthetician. Among other objectives, she aims to expand Whisker Park by opening additional locations and collaborating with other businesses to integrate cat grooming into existing salons and veterinary clinics. Ms. Sanford’s vision is to create a holistic approach that combines cat health care, grooming and wellness. Additionally, she envisions providing greater support to the cat community, addressing the widespread misunderstanding of cats as aloof or difficult, often a result of the limited options available to them compared with dogs. Her overarching goal is to use her expertise as a dedicated “cat problem-solver” to improve their lives.
