A journey into the world of gemology that began during his college years, Mr. Lejman joined his father’s jewelry appraisal business, where his early exposure ignited a passion that led him to pursue a career in the industry. By 1999, he had begun serving as the managing partner and chief executive officer at the Gemological Appraisal Laboratory of America Inc. Located on Fifth Avenue in New York City, the company has a second location in Great Neck, New York. It is a member of the GIA Alumni Association, the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers, the International Consortium of Gem-Testing Laboratories and the Gemological Association of Great Britain.
In preparation for his future, Mr. Lejman earned a Bachelor of Science in business from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 2005. Furthering his expertise, he obtained a gemology certification from the Gemological Institute of America Inc. in 2006. These academic credentials laid a strong foundation for Mr. Lejman’s career, enabling him to transform the family business into a comprehensive gemological laboratory renowned for its advanced technology and services.
Mr. Lejman’s career is marked by significant achievements and affiliations with prestigious organizations. He is a senior member of the Accredited Gemologists Association, a member of the Gemological Institute of America Inc. and a certified senior member of the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers. Additionally, he holds a fellowship with the Gemological Association of Great Britain. In addition to these affiliations, Mr. Lejman has been active in other capacities, notably co-organizing an international conference on Montana sapphires as an expert in his field, where he fostered global collaboration and knowledge exchange.
Attributing much of his success in the field to mentors who have guided and inspired him throughout his career, their support has been instrumental in shaping his path and achieving excellence in gemology. He also credits his wife, Grace, for her unwavering support as pivotal to his professional journey.
In his spare time, Mr. Lejman finds joy in refurbishing microscopes, studying gem treatments and exploring opals. As he looks toward the future, he plans to expand his business by incorporating advanced technology to enhance transparency and accuracy in gemstone appraisals. He also envisions reopening satellite offices, including one in Florida, to better serve clients and extend the reach of his business.
