Mr. Reis has cultivated a distinguished career over more than 15 years, marked by his expertise in finance and brand marketing. Since 2021, he has served as the senior managing director at Snow Peak in Portland, Oregon. In this role, Mr. Reis reports and manages profit and loss for the overall Western Hemisphere performance while overseeing various business units, including wholesale and direct-to-consumer businesses.
Additionally, Mr. Reis holds the position of vice president and chief operating officer at Snow Peak and has served as the chief executive officer of its European business since 2022. His strategic vision has been instrumental in positioning the Japanese camping brand within the U.S. market and guiding it back to a $20 million business post-COVID-19 pandemic.
With retail locations in both Portland and Brooklyn, New York, Snow Peak offers a stellar shopping experience, featuring Japanese-designed outdoor goods and apparel. The company’s large selection of products, clothing and accessories is all made of high-quality materials. Affiliated with Snow Peak since 2017, Mr. Reis first served as the corporate officer heading the corporate planning office. From 2019 to 2020, he excelled as the director and chief supply chain officer in Japan, followed by his role as the director of Snow Peak in Japan between 2020 and 2021.
Mr. Reis’s earlier career included serving as a manager at KPMG AZSA LLC, a Big Four management consulting firm, from 2012 to 2017, where he worked in the insurance sector. His diverse background began previously as an account executive at a travel management company in New York City, starting in 2010.
Mr. Reis’s academic background laid a strong foundation for his career achievements. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology with a minor in chemistry from Clark University in 2006 and a Master of Business Administration from Alliance Manchester Business School in the U.K. in 2012. While in college, Mr. Reis completed an internship in marketing at a major pharmaceutical company in Japan in 2011. These educational experiences have equipped him with the analytical skills necessary for his roles in finance and brand marketing.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Mr. Reis is actively involved in civic organizations. Since 2025, he has been a foundation board member of the Portland Japanese Garden in Portland. This role reflects his commitment to bridging cultural gaps and fostering community engagement.
Born in Ithaca, New York, but raised in Kyoto, Japan, Mr. Reis embodies a unique blend of American individualism and Japanese collectivism. This dual heritage informs his approach to life and work, particularly his passion for camping as a means to reconnect with nature amidst technological advancements.
Looking ahead, Mr. Reis aims to relist Snow Peak on the Japanese stock market following its acquisition by Bain Capital in 2023. He envisions expanding Snow Peak’s distinctive camping style into a recognized genre within the outdoor scene globally. Driven by an unwavering sense of purpose, Mr. Reis continues to explore innovative ways to enhance consumer experiences through nature-focused endeavors.
