Currently holding dual executive positions, he began serving as the vice president of underwriting at both Apex Insurance Services in 2002 and Brown & Brown in 2006. In these concurrent roles, Mr. Franceschini has managed revenue streams and independent producers while stabilizing organizational operations and implementing strategies for team collaboration.
Mr. Franceschini’s journey began in 1967 when he joined The Hartford as a commercial rater immediately after high school. Driven by the need to finance his college education, he manually calculated premiums for prospective clients across various business classes. Within two years, he was promoted to underwriter. During this formative period, Mr. Franceschini attended intensive training at Hartford’s Connecticut facility, where he gained foundational knowledge in coverage interpretation, claims risk assessment and loss control. This experience established his reputation for designing coverages tailored to specific exposures and set the stage for his future accomplishments.
Advancing through several significant roles, from 1987 to 1993, Mr. Franceschini served as the vice president and branch president at CNA in New Jersey. It was during this tenure that he achieved one of his most notable milestones, transforming a struggling branch office plagued by high turnover and poor performance into the branch office of the year. By assembling staff and candidly addressing their challenges, Mr. Franceschini fostered a collaborative environment that enabled the team to identify solutions collectively. His leadership not only stabilized operations but also demonstrated that meaningful change was possible through teamwork and open communication.
Following his success in New Jersey, Mr. Franceschini became the executive vice president at CNA in Chicago from 1997 to 1999. He then joined Kemper Corporation as an underwriting director between 1999 and 2000 before advancing to branch president for the Greater Chicago Area from 2000 to 2001. In each capacity, he was responsible for managing branch operations, overseeing underwriting decisions and building cohesive teams. In 2001, Mr. Franceschini took on the role of program manager at NIP Group in Chicago, where he continued to apply his operational acumen until 2002.
Mr. Franceschini’s academic foundation includes a Bachelor of Business Administration and management from Saint Peter’s University in Jersey City, New Jersey, earned in 1973. The principles acquired during his studies have informed his approach to leadership and organizational management throughout his professional life.
Beyond his corporate responsibilities, Mr. Franceschini has been actively involved with civic organizations, such as The American National Red Cross, where he has served as a blood ambassador and disaster action team responder. He is also a donor to the Wounded Warrior Project, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, the American Cancer Institute and the Alzheimer’s Institution, reflecting a commitment to supporting causes that benefit communities nationwide.
