Pattie Michie, Club Ambassador at Country Club of Hilton Head, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in hospitality services.
For more than two decades, Ms. Michie has provided superior service with the premier resort, Country Club of Hilton Head is South Carolina, as a private events director and currently as a club ambassador. She cheerfully greets members and guests, helps prepare the club for weddings and receptions and is responsible for the professional appearance of the clubhouse.
After obtaining an associate degree in accounting and English from the Mississippi University for Women, formerly the Mississippi State College for Women in Columbus, Mississippi, Ms. Michie prospered in retail sales at a dress shop and later determined to literally sell everything from A to Z, completing the list by selling a Datsun 240Z during employment at a car dealership. In addition, she served the dean’s office with Mississippi State University in Starksville, spent 10 years with Herff Jones, a premier manufacturer of educational recognition and achievement products, and four with American Performance Monitoring Systems.
Ms. Michie entered the hospitality field and managed the Ivy Guest House in Starkville as well as the Shady Oaks Country Club in Jackson, where she reversed its fortunes to profitability. Subsequently, the Westin Resort at Hilton Head came calling and for the next 10 years she excelled in food and beverage, marketing and special events. During her career in hospitality, Ms. Michie has been awarded several Management and Department Employee of the Year honors by Country Club of Hilton Head, as well as Employee of the Year by Westin Resort.
Ms. Michie attributes her success to the love and encouragement of her father, a county sheriff and a cattle and horse dealer. He told her, “If you will live your life in such a whirl to earn respect, everything else will fall into place. And if you love people, they will generally love you back.” She also followed the example of her aunt, who was a bridal consultant. Even as a teenager, she would show up to weddings to assist her aunt in the planning. She enjoys managing and overseeing gatherings and assisting people in making their special day beautiful and happy. Making the country club more successful through her work as a club ambassador over the years is what Ms. Michie considers to be her most notable accomplishment. In the coming years, she hopes to see more attention paid to people in need and intends to continue helping people and encourage others to help as well.
