Company: Eagles Nest Group Center
Location: Bailey, Colorado, United States

Melanie V. Kennedy, Chief Executive Owner, President and Owner at Eagles Nest Group Center, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in healthcare.

After graduating with an associate degree from the Pennsylvania State University in Pennsylvania in 1974, Melanie Kennedy went on to shatter glass ceilings and blaze new trails everywhere that she went. Becoming the mother of a disabled child had an impact on her personal and professional life, as she successfully advocated for her son’s right to attend a school that had never before taught a disabled child. After a special education director told her that she belonged in child welfare, Ms. Kennedy became a child advocate. This has been a lifelong passion that has driven her career in healthcare and first response.

Ms. Kennedy worked with the Park County Public Health department for 14 years as WIC Program Director and worked as an early periodic screening diagnosis and treatment case manager for Park County. She was also the first-ever female firefighter in Federal Heights, Colorado and won a Firefighter of the Year Award during her time in this role. Firefighters have been in Colorado since before Colorado was a state, and Ms. Kennedy was the first to make history in her department.

In addition to firefighting training, Ms. Kennedy is a certified teacher of cosmetology. She is the chief executive owner, president and owner of Eagles Nest Group Center, a position she has held since 1993. She also attended Red Rocks Community College in Lakewood, Colorado. Continuing education has been another integral part of her life.

Ms. Kennedy is also a CPR advanced state instructor for Colorado and formerly served as the chairperson for the local school advisory for special needs students for Platte Canyon School District in Bailey, Colorado, and was also certified as an EMT from 1977 to 1984. She is a volunteer for the Life Bridge Food Pantry and Family Support Counseling in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She also operates as the handicap children’s program advisor to the Joint Budget Committee for Colorado.

Ms. Kennedy’s areas of expertise include healthcare and business operations, skills necessary to fulfill the various responsibilities of running a healthcare center. Among other tasks, she manages finances and bookkeeping, writes healthcare protocols for the state of Colorado and interacts with clients on a regular basis. She believes that persistence, determination and strong faith have contributed to her success. In her free time, Ms. Kennedy likes to bake, go camping in the Colorado wilderness and rescue Clydesdale horses.
