Lisa Hicks-Clayton, Treasurer of the City of Dearborn Heights, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in public service.

An accomplished civil servant, Ms. Hicks-Clayton prepared for her career at Middle Tennessee State University, completing undergraduate coursework in political science and government from 1984 to 1985. She continued her higher education at the University of Florida, where she continued her coursework in political science, government, and education, with a major in political science and history and a minor in French. She holds numerous professional certifications, including being an Ambassador Level 4 from the Elected Officials Academy with the Michigan Municipal League.

Ms. Hicks-Clayton is certified in legal mediation by the Superior Court of California and holds a Redevelopment Ready Community Certificate from the Michigan State Housing Development Authority. She additionally earned a Certificate in Analytical Finance & Thinking from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. Alongside her primary endeavors, she established the Dearborn Heights Youth Leadership Program and served as the former president and governor of Kiwanis International.

Since 2020, Ms. Hicks-Clayton has contributed her expertise as the treasurer for the City of Dearborn Heights. She has been a community advocate since 1983 and served the city as a council member in 2012. Politically active for many years, Ms. Hicks-Clayton was a field organizer for the Michigan Democratic Party in 2018 and a political organizer with the American Federation of Teachers in 2016. She began her career as an educator and administrator, roles in which she excelled for nearly 20 years.

Ms. Hicks-Clayton became involved in her career after a medical diagnosis forced her to leave her job as a professional educator. Her passion for assisting others and improving her community led her to become a local elected official, and she has found success as a civil servant since. She is proud of being the first woman to be elected treasurer of the City of Dearborn Heights, and loves her work. In the coming years, Ms. Hicks-Clayton hopes to write about her struggles and triumphs as a woman in politics and inspire others to become public servants.
