Vanessa Stokes, director of Pop Courts, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in event management.
With a wealth of experience to her credit, Ms. Stokes has excelled as an artist, event manager and community leader. Since 2020, she has operated as the director of POPcourts, an outdoor event space located on the West Side of Chicago, Illinois. The space is designated for community and small business events, as well as other various celebrations. Additionally, Ms. Stokes became a director of special services and economic development for Westside Health Authority in 2020 as well.
In her other vocational endeavors, Ms. Stokes has served as the owner of VS Creative Consulting since 2019. The consulting firm largely focuses on community revitalization and engagement, project development, and artistic management. The company also provides various cultural organization and curation services. Ms. Stokes’ business primarily oversees the first Black-owned photography studio in Chicago, which was previously managed by her late father, Dorrell Creightney.
Outside of her primary professional duties, Ms. Stokes also remains dedicated to civic advocacy. To wit, she is the president of the Austin Town Hall Park Advisory Council, a chairperson for the Austin Town Hall Park Art and Culture Committee, and a board member of the Kehrein Center for the Arts. Well-regarded for her commitment to her work and her accomplishments in the field, Ms. Stokes was recently honored with an Award for Excellence from the Urban Land Institute in 2022.
Ms. Stokes has been consistently driven by her desire to empower and encourage others in her community. In light of her fulfilling career, she largely attributes her success to the many positive relationships she has developed throughout her time in the field. Accounting for her accomplishments, she is most notably proud of her work with POPcourts, as well as the many other outdoor programs she has created with her fellow citizens in the city of Chicago. Looking to the future, Ms. Stokes hopes to complete the development of a new café and cooperative hub in the city. She also intends to work more in the development of new sustainable housing for the community.
