With nearly 40 years of experience to her credit, Ms. Durkin has cultivated a fulfilling career in the field of human resources. Since 2021, she has excelled as the chief human resources officer at Aim Transportation Solutions. She originally joined the company in 2006, working as a human resource manager until 2010, at which point she became the vice president of human resources. Throughout her time in her various leadership roles, she has specialized in benefits, employee engagement, recruiting, and both economic and strategic development. Likewise, Ms. Durkin is well-versed in elevating customer experiences.

At the onset of her career, Ms. Durkin worked with the Ohio Bureau of Employment Services for several years before subsequently working with Denman Tire in Warren, Ohio, for 15 years as a resource manager. Ever committed to her profession, she remains affiliated with several industry-related organizations as well, including the Society for Human Resource Management and Trumbull County Workforce Investment Board. A volunteer within her local community, she is also involved with both Relay for Life and the United Way through her employer, and she is active with her church.

Before embarking on her vocational journey, Ms. Durkin pursued a formal education. As a student of Youngstown State University, she initially earned an associate’s degree in business management in 1986. Soon thereafter, she continued her studies and achieved a Bachelor of Applied Science in human resources in 1990. In addition to her academic credentials, Ms. Durkin is also a graduate of the Choffin Career Center’s legal and medical secretary program, and she received a professional human resource (PHR) certification in 2006.

To commemorate her accomplishments, Ms. Durkin was nominated for a 2017 Athena Award through her local chamber of commerce. In light of her fulfilling career, she largely attributes her success to the invaluable guidance of her mentors. Likewise, her parents laid the foundation for her spiritual development, which aided her in establishing a successful work-life balance. As she nears retirement, Ms. Durkin is excited to take on more speaking engagements related to human resources, wellness and retention, and she hopes to dedicate more time to helping others in her field.
