She currently excels as the president of Miracles 3 Incorporated, a nonprofit organization created to improve the quality of life for communities. Dr. Sloan is involved in public landmark restoration, STEM initiatives and affordable housing programs for disabled veterans. Prior to this role, she was the director of special projects and the Student Counseling Center at Florida State University. She began her career in education as a high school and elementary school counselor. Dr. Sloan served as the vice president of student affairs for Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University from 1997 to 2022 and was the director of the counseling and psychological center at the University of Michigan for nearly a decade.

She was the past president of the Florida Counseling Association and has been recognized on two occasions as the Counselor of the Year in Florida. Attributing her success to her ambition and desire to help others, Dr. Sloan considers her greatest accomplishment to be dismantling the negative stigma surrounding counseling for students in underserved populations.
