Dawn Marie Bennett, executive director at the African American Leadership Forum, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in advocacy and community engagement.

With over 30 years of experience to her credit, Ms. Bennett has excelled as executive director at the African American Leadership Forum. She began her career with Child Care in the City of Seattle. She continued her contributions at same as a supervisor in the late night program and as a late night specialist for 20 years. She served as an assistant coordinator for Seattle Parks and Recreation. 

Before embarking on her professional path, Ms. Bennett pursued an education at Bellevue College where she earned an associate of arts in business information technology in 1984. She concluded her academic efforts at South Seattle College, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in hotel management in 1996. During her collegiate career, she found success as a basketball player.

In addition to her primary vocation, Ms. Bennett remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to her areas of expertise. She was a member National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and chair of its Political Action Committee. She held the role of executive director at the African American Leadership Forum since 2010 and the Multicultural Education Rights Alliance since 2011, where she was also co-founder. She donated to Emerge Washington and the League of Education Voters.

In light of her impressive undertakings, Ms. Bennett has accrued several accolades throughout her career. She was presented with the Mercer Island Community Engagement Award, the Community Engagement Award from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and an award from the Urban Native Education Alliance. In the immediate future, she has set her sights on achieving the role of executive director within the next five years. Currently, she is taking a well-deserved sabbatical from her position with the city of Seattle. Her ultimate goal is to earn enough income to ensure that all employees within the organization are compensated fairly, including herself, so that she can retire comfortably.
