Richard S. Hantgan, self-employed commercial real estate agent, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in commercial real estate.
With over four decades of experience to his credit, Mr. Hantgan has excelled in the field of commercial real estate. Currently working as an independent commercial real estate consultant since 2017, he applies his extensive experience and expertise in handling projects involving acquisition, development, leasing, project management, and finance. In this role, he has recently overseen the completion of 148 townhouse rentals, managing everything from concept to lease-up and permanent takeout.
Prior to establishing himself as a consultant, Mr. Hantgan made significant contributions as senior vice president and partner at Multi-Properties Inc. in Baltimore, Maryland, from 1985 to 2015. Here, he was responsible for managing a portfolio of nearly 3,000 units and was integral in various phases of residential and commercial real estate development. His adept skills in negotiation, management, and strategic planning facilitated numerous successful projects and enduring professional relationships.
Mr. Hantgan began his career trajectory as an associate at Hammer, Siler, George Associates in Washington DC, from 1979 to 1983, where he first honed his skills in urban planning and real estate development. He then progressed to serve as a project manager at DRG Ventures Inc., deepening his expertise in managing complex real estate projects.
Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Hantgan pursued an education at the University of Pennsylvania, earning a Bachelor of Arts in urban studies in 1978, followed by a Master of City Planning in 1979. He was selected by the faculty for accelerated graduate studies due to his outstanding academic performance. His academic efforts continued with additional coursework at Harvard University, The American University, and the Wharton School, where he enriched his understanding of business law, real estate law and finance, real estate economics and CBD revitalization.
Beyond his responsibilities within the field, Mr. Hantgan has participated in various leadership roles and volunteer affiliations. He has served as the vice president of Comprehensive Housing Assistance Inc., managing 1,500 HUD 202 and tax-credit assisted living units, and previously held the role of president of the Baltimore Center for Jewish Education. Additionally, he chaired the senior housing committee at CHAI Comprehensive Housing Assistance Inc. and has been an advisor to Associated Catholic Charities’ Project Fresh Start.
In addition to his primary vocation, Mr. Hantgan remains affiliated with Shemesh of Baltimore, contributing to the community as a board member since 2014 and serving as president from 2020 to 2022. His commitment to community and professional excellence has earned him respect and recognition across various sectors. He was recognized for his leadership and dedication to the field of commercial real estate and community service, marking him as a distinguished professional in his industry.
