Yacine M. Amrani, PharmD, PhD, MBA, Senior Director of Business Development at PTC Therapeutics, Inc. and an Independent Consultant, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in pharmaceuticals.
With over 22 years of experience in biochemistry, molecular biology, and business development to his credit, Dr. Amrani initially embarked upon his professional path at Université d’Alger, from which he earned a Doctor of Pharmacy in 1996. He pursued further studies at Pierre and Marie Curie University, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in molecular biology, genetics and physiology in 1997, a Master of Science in immunology in 1998 and a Doctor of Philosophy in biochemistry and molecular biology from Pierre and Marie Curie University in 2002. He later completed postdoctoral research at Columbia University, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Mount Sinai School of Medicine between 2002 and 2010. Dr. Amrani ultimately concluded his academic efforts at Duke University in 2012, graduating from the Fuqua School of Business with a Master of Business Administration in healthcare, strategy, and decision sciences.
Beginning his career with ZS Associates as a summer associate and business consulting manager between 2011 and 2016, Dr. Amrani subsequently served as an associate principal for the life science strategy consulting group with IQVIA from 2016 to 2020. Soon thereafter, he was active as an access practice lead and the senior principal for value pricing with Deallus Consulting Ltd. from 2020 to 2021 and the senior director of business development with Tris Pharma Inc. in Monmouth Junction, New Jersey from 2021 to 2023. Since 2023, he has excelled as the senior director of business development at PTC Therapeutics, Inc., where his responsibilities include analyzing companies and drugs for potential partnerships, conducting acquisitions, and supervising drug development collaborations. Dr. Amrani has found further success as an independent consultant, utilizing his expertise in both science and strategy to identify key business development opportunities in the pharmaceutical sector.
Notably, Dr. Amrani is a former member of Algeria’s national swim team, reflecting his lifelong dedication to excellence and resilience. He attributes much of his success to his ability to connect scientific knowledge with business acumen, enabling him to thrive in a complex and competitive industry. Married with two children, he likewise remains committed to both his family and his professional aspirations. In the coming years, Dr. Amrani hopes to advance to the C-suite of a major pharmaceutical company while continuing to consult and drive innovation in the field of drug development, particularly in rare and neuromuscular metabolic diseases.
