With over four decades of experience, Mr. Zeitlin has built a successful career in accounting, specializing in income tax. He currently serves as a managing member at Bley & Zeitlin CPAs in Denver, Colorado, a role he has held since 1982. He also owned and operated Zeitlin & Associates, CPAs in Denver from 1982 to 2023. His previous experience includes working with Arthur Andersen and authoring the continuing education course “Valuation of Closely Held Businesses – Tax Issues” at the University of Denver.
Mr. Zeitlin is actively involved in several professional organizations, including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the Denver Estate Planning Council, a professional organization that provides networking, education, and resources for estate planning professionals to enhance their expertise and collaborate on best practices in the field. He has also dedicated his time to community service, serving on the board of directors for the Autism Society of Colorado, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and families affected by autism through advocacy, education, and support services, from 2007 to 2013 and as its president from 2009 to 2011. Additionally, he was treasurer for Netresults Junior Tennis from 2001 to 2010 and for the Jewish Community Center of Denver Tennis Committee from 1982 to 2000.
Mr. Zeitlin’s commitment extends to other roles, including serving on the board of directors for the Anti-Defamation League from 1989 to 1999, as trustee for the I. Rude Trust in 1990, and as president of B’nai B’rith Colorado in 1989, where he also served on the board from 1985 to 1989. He has also been involved with his homeowners’ association board. Reflecting on his path, his career has been marked by several notable achievements. In 2008, he was honored by the Colorado Society of CPAs with the “CPAs Who Make a Difference” award, specifically the 2008 Heroines Award for community service. The following year, he received the prestigious Minoru Yasui Community Volunteer Service Award, further recognizing his dedication to service. He laid a strong educational foundation for these successes, earning a Bachelor of Science in accounting from the University of Colorado Boulder in 1976. He then pursued a master’s degree in taxation from the University of Denver in 1978. He is also a certified public accountant through the Colorado State Board of Accountancy.
Mr. Zeitlin firmly believes that success is attainable through two essential elements—knowledge and hard work. He emphasizes the importance of having a clear understanding of one’s goals and putting in a dedicated effort to achieve them. Currently, he is working on a book titled “The Michael Zeitlin Quotations,” which will feature meaningful quotations he has crafted based on his professional and personal experiences. In his personal time, he enjoys a variety of activities, including playing bridge, tennis, and table tennis. He also loves attending the theater, appreciating fine arts, reading books, and participating in Zumba classes.
