Alvaro Dal Bo, head of finance Americas at FIBA, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in finance.
Mr. Dal Bo is lauded for his tenure in finance, with a career spanning over 25 years. Since 2019, he has been the head of finance Americas at the Fédération Internationale de Basketball (International Basketball Federation), or FIBA, in Miami. Based in Switzerland, the nonprofit, independent association serves as the world governing body for basketball, organizing international competitions, defining sports rules and managing the participation of national teams. Leveraging his extensive experience in the banking and financial services industry and his in-depth knowledge of credit risk and strategic planning, Mr. Dal Bo oversees all the financials for the Americas region, which encompasses financial planning, accounting and the movement of funds between federations and the headquarters.
Before joining FIBA, Mr. Dal Bo was a senior vice president of Latin America productivity management for Citi from 2018 to 2019. His earlier career saw him succeeding with HSBC between 1999 and 2018, beginning as a graduate trainee and working his way up to vice president and business manager. Apart from his work-related ventures, Mr. Dal Bo is heavily engaged in community initiatives and charity work as a volunteer with the Maritime and Science Technology Academy, the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science and Hermanos de la Calle and as a mentor for Apprentice Worldwide. He also provides aid during natural disasters by sending supplies and assistance.
Raised in southern Brazil, Mr. Dal Bo graduated from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, where he received a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1997. In light of his professional accomplishments, the Palladium Group recognized him in the Strategy Execution Hall of Fame in 2008. He also received an award for his strategic planning efforts during his tenure with HSBC in Brazil. Mr. Dal Bo credits his success to his perseverance, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and ability to adapt and maintain a strong focus on strategic thinking. His future goals include continuing his career with FIBA while simultaneously gathering a portfolio of investments to take with him on his next business venture.
